πŸ“‘ Exploring the World of Communication! πŸ“‘

Our Grade 6 and Grade 7 students had an exciting and educational visit to TelOne, where they were introduced to the fascinating world of telecommunications.

During their trip, the learners gained valuable insights into how communication systems work, the technology behind connectivity, and the important role TelOne plays in keeping people connected across the country.

Experiences like these inspire curiosity and broaden our students’ understanding of the world around them, while linking classroom learning to real-life applications.

We extend our sincere thanks to our parents for your continued support in making such enriching opportunities possible.

πŸ“šβœ¨ Introducing Our Reading Buddy Programme! βœ¨πŸ“š

We are delighted to introduce our new Reading Buddy Programme, beginning this term at Penhalonga Preparatory School.

As part of this initiative, our Grade 6 students will visit Grade 1 classrooms to listen to and mentor our young readers. During these sessions, the older children will read with their buddies, offer encouragement, and provide gentle guidance as the Grade 1s build their confidence and skills.

This programme offers wonderful benefits for both age groups:

🌟 Leadership development for Grade 6
Our senior students gain valuable experience practising leadership, communication, and mentoring skills as they prepare for their leadership roles next year.

πŸ“– Confidence and support for Grade 1
Our youngest readers receive extra reading support, confidence-building, and the inspiration of positive role models to look up to.

🀝 Stronger school community
The programme strengthens connections across year groups and helps nurture the caring, supportive culture that is so important at our school.

After each session, Grade 1 parents may notice a short comment from their child’s Reading Buddy in the homework diary, celebrating progress and offering encouragement. A cheerful sticker or small acknowledgement may also appear from time to time!

We are excited to watch our readers grow and our leaders develop through this programme.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, please feel free to reach out.

Together we are building confident readers and thoughtful young leaders. πŸ“–πŸŒ±
