We will be hosting the Rector on the 7th of May at 18h30 at Higher Ground (St Stithians Campus). Please indicate on the poll below if you would be interested in joining. This will likely be Mr Trafford's last visit to the SA Petrean Branch as Rector, and so we would like to thank him for the invaluable contributions he has made to Peterhouse Group of Schools and to the greater Petrean Community. Congratulations to Aaron Denenga HOS/F03, Board Chairman of Kutsaga Research, on being named Runner-Up for Best Performing Board Chairman at the National Service Delivery Awards.

This recognition reflects not only his leadership, but the continued growth and transformation of Kutsaga as a leader in agricultural innovation and sustainability in Zimbabwe.

๐๐ž๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ง ๐ƒ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž - ๐‰๐ข๐ฆ ๐‡๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ž๐ง ๐†/๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”

We are saddened to share the news that Johnny โ€œJimโ€ Holden (G/66) passed away peacefully in March 2026 in Newport Beach, California, having spent his final day surrounded by family and friends.

Johnny was a larger-than-life character whose warmth, energy and spirit fostered friendships across the world. At Peterhouse, he was proud to have captained the 1966 Rugby 1st XV, the only team to remain unbeaten โ€” a record that still stands today.

He went on to enjoy an extraordinary international career in travel and safari leadership, living and working in the UK, USA and Kenya, and later founding Holden Safaris in 2018. He was not only the founder, but the heart behind it โ€” a storyteller, relationship-builder, and passionate advocate for Africa and its people.

Johnny will be greatly missed by his many friends. His spirit will live on in every safari, every sunrise over the savannah, and every life touched by the journeys he created.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margie, and is survived by his son David, his daughter Beatrice, and his two granddaughters.

A small group of Petreans met in London last night for the UK Branchโ€™s first social of the year. The evening was hosted by Fergus Chance and Derrick Sanyahumbi at the Antelope Pub.

Itโ€™s always great to reconnect with our roots, share stories, and enjoy conversations with like-minded Petreans.

As part of our ongoing Petrean data collection and upgrading (and so that none of you miss out on the school's Open Days coming up), we kindly ask that those of you who have children and/or grandchildren aged 12 years and under fill in the form below with your children's updated details.

This will mean that we have your child on record and can contact you when they are in Grade 6 and ready to attend our Peterhouse Group of Schools Open Days for the senior schools.

Thank you to all the Winnipeg Petreans who still came out in โ€“18ยฐC for the meetup.

It was incredible to see so many Petreans come out of the woodwork. We shared memories, laughter, and valuable knowledge, and it truly reminded us of the strength of our community.

As a result, the WhatsApp chat has officially evolved from a meetup group into a community groupโ€”because weโ€™ll be supporting one another beyond events and staying connected in each otherโ€™s lives.

It is wonderful to see that, after so many decades, the Petrean community can still come together and have such a great time. One of our Petreans even arrived in Peterhouse regalia โ€” a beautifully nostalgic and symbolic reminder that the Peterhouse spirit never leaves us, wherever life may take us.

We were also proud to gather at a restaurant owned by members of the Sub-Saharan African community, making the evening even more meaningful as we celebrated connection, heritage, and shared community.
