Today our Form 3 Physics learners had an eye-opening Educational tour at Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe(RPAZ) ://www.facebook.com/2013rpaz

The visit gave learners an opportunity to understand the role of RPAZ in Zimbabwe, and how radioactive waste is safely managed. It was inspiring to see classroom theory in its practical application - from understanding Radiation types, monitoring instruments, Radiation safety and the importance of environmental stewardship.

A special thank you to RPAZ team for their warm hospitality, clear explanations and for making science so practical and exciting to our learners.

Lunch was later taken at Chicken Inn with a little 'Sapatina'. Lastly it was a Village Walk.

AI will dramatically transform education [in a positive way], provided we move quickly.
__What is happening in schools near you?

Two pieces of information recently caught my attention in a dramatic way. First of all, there was a report in a leading tech newspaper that said usage of America’s most widely used AI assistant, ChatGPT, falls by 40% during school and college holidays!

This shows that education is far and away the biggest use case of AI, to date. A lot to think about there. Secondly, I saw a report on Al Jazeera which said China had issued guidelines that require all children above six years old to learn AI literacy skills!

I told the audience at the “Unstoppable Africa” event in New York last week that if I were leading the education department in an African country, I would first take those guidelines and ask AI to translate them. I'd then study them, adapt as necessary, then by issuing similar guidelines, at least to high schools and colleges!

Even if our education authorities don’t act quickly enough at this fast-moving time of technology transformation, there’s so much room for empowered citizens to act to help their own children, their teachers, and even other children in their communities.

Instead of simply despairing and disparaging failures real or perceived, let's be proactive ourselves.

Let me give you one example of how empowered [entrepreneurial] citizens respond: There's a social in the US called Sal Khan. After trying to help his niece learn maths [by tutoring her online], Sal founded something called "Khan Academy".

The learning platform he developed now educates 150m children worldwide! And it has a program for teachers, too. Here’s a link to learn more: https://www.khanacademy.org

So, please don’t bleat on about the education challenges you see around you, as valid as some [or all] your concerns may be... Instead, use that energy to find ways to be Africa’s Sal Khan. Start with your own country. Or your own school!

Even today, you can download an AI app like ChatGPT [Study Mode] or Gemini [Guided Learning] and learn to use it... then show a teacher in your community or your children’s school how to use it, too.

Create study groups for teachers and students. If you are unemployed, you might even turn it into a cool business, both online and offline! [You will need to teach users they must look out for “hallucinations”, of course, and other helpful guidelines].

__ on the latest and be part of the conversation!

Do something, because we cannot afford to have our children left behind simply because we were either unimaginative, lazy, or just too cynical to ever be helpful.

Here is an action point for you [today]:

Spend an hour on ChatGPT Study Mode or Gemini Learning Guide, and give me your comments here how we can use it to transform education in your own schools. If you have children or a niece or nephew, tell us how you helped them to use it. Remember, I like practical people... those who learn TO DO!

You got this!
