Thanks to the Toastmasters ambassadors such as Andrew Tsuro made us proud by spreading the good word about the Challengers. He introduced four members at once.

Congratulations to Warren Gapare who won the Best Speaker of the Day Trophy

President’s Remarks

Challengers Toastmasters Club, the first breakfast club in Zimbabwe is now 12 months old. This club was inaugurated on the 18th of January 2014 and became a chartered club in September, the same year. Challengers was born out of the sheer desire to overcome a challenge that stood in the way of many would be Toastmasters who were not able to attend meetings in the evenings.

The idea to establish Challengers gathered momentum each time I struggled to drive at night after attending other Toastmasters evening sessions. Alternatively, I had to forget my dream of being a competent speaker and great leader. However, the old adage says “where there is a will there is a way and if there is no way, make a way.” I had to make a way. I had to make a way leading to the birth of Challengers Toastmasters Club.

With courage, the tenacity of hope and determination, a morning club, Challengers Toastmasters Club was established and inaugurated at Jameson Hotel on 18th January 2014. About 29 people attended the inaugural meeting. Fungai Mtisi (Competent Communicator), Karen Matore, Ruth Mudviti, and Marceline Bere became the first new members. Currently, Challengers has an encouraging membership standing at 26 and I am hopeful that by end of 2015 Challengers membership will grow exponentially.

For and on behalf of the Challengers club, I commend the invaluable support and courage from the Toastmasters family in Zimbabwe and beyond; Club Mentor Edmore Gamundani (DTM) and Robson Wurayayi, Area Governor Davison Ncube (ACB,ALB), Area Governor Frank Tsuro (ACB, ALB) and Blessing Mandipira (ACS, ALB) to mention but a few.

To those who want to visit us, currently, Challengers Toastmasters Club meets at Courtney Hotel, twice every month on Saturdays between 8:30 and 10:30am on Saturdays. We are a great family and a vibrant club full of energetic, committed and friendly members.
