Society reintergration of ex-offenders is possible if the inmates are equipped and prepared for re-entry. 3 years ago I met a great example of a successfully rehabilitated ex-inmate and a true example of reformation.
Mr Ruben Chigumira was incarcerated in 1994 and served 22 years, 10 months and 13days in prison. During his time in Prison he acquired 11 Ordinary levels, 18 points A level and 9 Diplomas including CIS. He became a Headmaster in Chikurubhi Maximum Prison as an inmates assisting other inmates in educational activities. He was born again during his time in prison and became a pastor during and after prison. He had a loving and supporting wife who would visit him every month for 22years. He survived the outbreak of TB, Pelagria and cholera during his Life in Prison.
He died on the 8th of January 2021 after contracting the covid 19 virus
