This is so very true - with accommodations and specialist interventions we are trying to make the playing field level for all students.

Dyslexics are often starting at a deficit. Accommodations help them reach the point where others might automatically start. Accommodations are not an unfair advantage.

So true.....

This is so true for kids who have dyslexia. With the stress of grades, homework and standardized tests, it can be easy to forget that the most important thing for a child who has dyslexia is their mental health. While encouraging their learning, we always need to make this a priority! www.DyslexiaConnect.com

Dyslexia and fatigue are connected.

When word reading is not automatic, the brain has to work harder to decode every word. That extra cognitive effort reduces stamina over time.

What may look like inattention, avoidance, or zoning out is often cognitive overload.

This is why explicit, structured literacy instruction matters. When word recognition becomes more automatic, it reduces the mental load and frees the brain for comprehension and learning.

Reading is more than an academic skill.

It is access to opportunity, confidence, and a chance at success.

This is why the right instruction matters so much.

NILD Zimbabwe had been helping "those who learn differently" since 2012.

Real progress happens when we focus on the process behind a student’s learning, not just the outcome. Understanding how students think allows educators to address the root of learning difficulties and foster confidence that lasts.

Not all learning differences look the same.
Some affect reading. Some affect writing. Some affect numbers. Some affect movement.

What they all have in common is this:
these are brain differences — not effort problems, not motivation issues, and not a reflection of intelligence.

This visual gently compares dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxia to help adults recognise what might be underneath a child’s struggles, and respond with understanding rather than pressure.

Save this for those moments when something feels harder than it “should” — and you want language that explains why.

Having dyslexia can be exhausting!
So much of our day-to-day lives relies on our ability to read.
Being a dyslexic student is all-consuming.
The fatigue caused by reading, writing, spelling and studying is such a mammoth effort for us that we often feel tired.
Trying to keep up with our peers in class, keeping on top of our studies and constantly feeling like we’re falling short, means we are often burnt-out and stressed by the end of the day.
We constantly feel swamped.
So please don’t ever mistake our fatigue and tiredness for being bored, lazy or defiant, in fact the opposite is usually true, we are working harder, longer and exerting more focus and energy than you can possibly imagine!
