Today we were blessed to celebrate our Opening Mass with Father David Harold Berry SJ as we began the final term of 2026. In his message, Father reminded us of the importance of finding our purpose in life and using our God given gifts to reach our full potential.
He encouraged us to discover what we are called to do so that we can rise above challenges and fly like a bird, with purpose, confidence and hope.
As Emerald Hill School for the Deaf, we look forward to a term filled with growth, learning and opportunities to soar. May we all find our purpose and spread our wings

Re: OPENING OF 3RD TERM 2026 AND CHANGE OF TRADITION - BOARDING LEARNERS REPORTING TIME

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Greetings.

We trust you are well and that the holiday break has been restful for both you and your child.

1. OPENING OF 3RD TERM 2026
We wish to inform you that 3rd Term 2026 will officially open on 8th of September 2026
All learners are expected to report on the 7th of September . Lessons will commence on the 8th

The term is a critical one as we complete the syllabus, do final assessments, and prepare candidates for examinations. We are also going to have inspection of the whole school on the 15th a few parents will be expected to attend as they will be interviewed by the ministry . On the 16th we are going to have Girl guides competition at Emerald Hill and on the 17 th we are going to have CASSA indoor games Your cooperation in ensuring punctuality and full attendance will be greatly appreciated.

2. CHANGE OF TRADITION: REPORTING TIME FOR BOARDING LEARNERS

Effective this 3rd Term, the tradition of bringing boarding children to school late in the evening is discontinued.

New Reporting Time for Boarders: 8:30- 3:30 on 7 September
Reasons for this change:
1. Security & Welfare: Late arrivals compromise learner safety and supervision.
2. Orientation & Settling: Early reporting allows learners to settle, be oriented, and prepare for lessons the next day without fatigue.
3. Administration: It enables proper registration, dorm allocation, and health checks in daylight hours.
4. Compliance: This is in line with Ministry of Education guidelines on learner safety.

Any boarder who reports after cut-off time will only be admitted the following morning, and the parent/guardian will be required to make alternative arrangements for the night.

3. WHAT TO BRING
Please ensure your child comes with:
- All school fees and levies fully paid or proof of payment plan
- All required stationery, toiletries, and boarding requirements as per the list issued
- Medical forms for learners on medication

We count on your support to make this transition smooth. The change is made in the best interest of the safety, discipline, and academic success of our learners.

Emerald Hill School for the Deaf has officially taken over two 100,000 litre water storage reservoir tanks, providing a combined capacity of 200,000 litres.
The handover was conducted in the presence of Engineer Kapita, who represented AgriRocket Engineering P L

As the final school Mass of the term came to a close, the Emerald Hill School for the Deaf community gathered in a spirit of gratitude, reflection and hope.

The Holy Mass was led by Fr Clyde Muropa SJ who reminded everyone that the holiday is more than just a break from school. It is a time to rest, reflect and return renewed for the term ahead. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the teaching and supporting staff for their dedication and hard work throughout the term before wishing everyone a peaceful and joyful holiday.

The celebration also became a moment of heartfelt farewells. Fr Clyde bid goodbye to the primary and secondary teachers in training who completed their attachment at the school. With his warm sense of humour, he shared that he was also saying goodbye as he prepares for his next mission, reminding everyone that moving from one mission to another is part of a priest's calling.

Special words of appreciation were also shared for Ms Kurunhe and Mr Chikwature from the Primary School and Ms Chiwoko from the Secondary School as they embark on new journeys. Though they will be greatly missed, we wish them every blessing and success in the chapters that lie ahead.

As the congregation departed with smiles, prayers and warm embraces, there was a shared sense of gratitude for a fulfilling term and hope for what the future holds.

🏆 MAKE THEM BELIEVE TOURNAMENT 2026 | MATCH RECAP ⚽

Last Sunday, 5 July, the Make Them Believe Tournament brought together former and current learners of Emerald Hill School for the Deaf in a memorable celebration of deaf football.

Harare Deaf Select, made up of former learners, claimed a 3, 0 victory over the current Emerald Hill School for the Deaf team to lift the trophy.

A special thank you to Patrick Gokwe of Exotik Doks for organising the Make Them Believe Tournament and bringing this vision to life.
