🌟 American innovation inspires young scientists worldwide!

At Zimbabwe’s Buskers Science Fair, founded IVLP Alumnus Knowledge Chikundi, U.S. student Thomas Yu joined local innovators to explore creative solutions to real-world challenges. The fair, sponsored by the American Broadcom Foundation, champions hands-on learning and global collaboration in STEM.

American educator Mary Eileen, founder of Terra Science Education, served as a judge and partners with Knowledge to connect students from both nations.

Their shared work highlights the spirit of American scientific excellence—curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to discovery that drives progress at home and abroad. 🔬🇺🇸

🚀 Cheers to Primerose Bomokayi as she immerses herself in the American higher education experience! Through the Fulbright Program, Primerose will spend the next few years studying nanotechnology for aerospace applications to earn a PhD in Material Science and Engineering at Boise State University.

The Fulbright Program transforms academics like Primerose to become global leaders who drive innovation and build international collaborations. As a lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe and a research scientist at the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA), Primerose will expand her expertise through Fulbright, connect with global peers, and be inspired to cultivate the next generation of innovators. 🌍🔬📚

Every data point tells a story. And in our newest applicant data through December 1, the story shows us that the demand for higher education is still rising, especially within historically underrepresented communities. Distinct first-year applicants are up 4% meaning over 𝟒𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 students applied to college using Common App by December 1 this cycle, compared to 2024-25. Other top moments of 2025-26 so far include:

🥇 Applicants identifying as first-generation grew by 11%.
📈 Black or African American applicants saw the fastest growth at 13%.
🏡 The number of applicants from Rural areas grew 13%, though the majority of applicants on the platform still hail from Metropolitan areas.
📊 Arizona and Mississippi were the fastest-growing states with 32% growth since December of last year.
