Celebrating International Women's Day 2024
As we commemorate International Women's Day 2024, it's essential to recognize the invaluable contributions of women engaged in informal cross-border trading in Southern Africa and their vital role in our communities. This year, the United Nations has designated the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," focusing on addressing economic disempowerment, while the campaign theme for this year is "Inspire Inclusion."
The recently published report by Amnesty International shows the significance of decent work as a human right for women involved in informal cross-border trading. These exceptional women not only shape livelihoods but also serve as a source of empowerment, skill development, and resilience within their communities.
Despite encountering challenges such as discrimination, violence, economic exploitation, and limited access to justice, they persist in showcasing remarkable strength and determination in their endeavors. Research indicates that informal trade significantly contributes to cross-border trade, accounting for 30-90% in some African countries and an estimated 30-40% of total regional trade in Southern Africa.
On this International Women's Day, let's celebrate the resilience and tenacity of these women and commit to supporting and empowering them in every possible way. By investing in women and striving for inclusion, we can accelerate progress, foster economic empowerment, and create a more equitable and just society for all.

Happy Heroes Day, 2023, Zimbabwe!
We encourage the youth to be part of today’s and future’s heroes. Today’s heroes are the ones fighting neocolonialism and working day and night to ensure that Africa is integrated, prosperous, and peaceful. The youth accelerating the achievement of Agenda 2063 and the enhancement of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The youth who want to see Africa united politically, socially, and economically. The Africa where there is freedom of movement of persons, goods, and services as well as single air transport.
