BAIL GRANTED.

Emmanuel Sitima, the former President of the Zimbabwe National Students Union was finally granted bail at $100 usd in the Magistrate court on account of changed circumstances after Takunda Mhuka another student who was a co accused was granted bail in a similar sum.

Welcome back Cde Sitima.

📽🎙At the engagement meeting the National Spokesperson, Cde Joni emphasized on the need for institutions, the Ministry and Government to address the inadequacy of accomodation facilities, offer flexible loans to address financial hardships and also ensure the respect of students' academic freedoms. 🔵⚪️ Today, we participated in an engagement meeting with the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee (PPC) on Higher and Tertiary Education.

The meeting focused on creating safe learning environments. We were represented by our National Spokesperson, Kimberly Joni.

The meeting was also attended by key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, FAWEZI, and UNESCO.

Today, the Day of the African Child, we salute the fearless spirit of the Soweto students who rose against oppression and defended the right to education, dignity and freedom. Their struggle lives on in every young person who refuses silence. Today, Zimbabwean students stand against repression, arrests and injustice. We demand justice, freedom and the immediate release of Emmanuel Sitima and all political prisoners.

This Day of the African Child, we join Africa and the rest of the world in honoring the fighting spirit of the youth of Soweto in 1976. It serves as a reminder that all barriers to education must be removed to ensure access to affordable and quality education for all. We reaffirm that the doors of learning and culture shall be open for all. Long live the African Child!

🚨⚖️COURT UPDATE:

President Liberty Hamauswa, alongside Richard Nyamandi, Takunda Mareverwa and Dylan Chisemwa, has been remanded to 15 June 2026 for the commencement of trial.

They are scheduled to appear in Court 5 at 0830hrs.
