I want a practical marking scheme that shows exactly how to award marks at each stage of the School Based Project (SBP). The official guide gives the distribution, but it doesn’t spell out what counts for each mark. Let’s break it down into clear marking criteria so I can apply it consistently when assessing projects. I like you to design a ready-to-use marking rubric table (with columns for criteria, evidence, and marks) so I can apply it directly during assessment. That way, each stage has a checklist I can tick off while marking. It’s much clearer and fairer to separate the mark allocations for artefact, service, and product presentations rather than lumping them together. Breaking down each multi-mark item into single-mark sub-criteria (strictly 1 mark) makes the rubric more precise and easier to apply and justify each mark. Refine the rubric so that every single mark is strictly 1 mark. This way, I can justify each award without bunching.

What is a School Based Project Marking Scheme?

An SBP is legalized by Circuar No. 9 of 2024. There is also a Markguide that categorise marks as follows: Stage 1: 5 marks, Stage 2: 10Marks, Stage 3: 10 marks, Stage 4: 10marks, Stage 5: 10marks and Stage 6: 5marks. These are bunched markes, hence, a mark scheme is necessary to justify each single mark. Hence, educators are compeled to make marking schemes. In the next post I will show how a mark scheme is made
