Col.2.16 Therefore let no one sit in judgment on you in matters of food and drink, or with regard to a feast day or a New Moon or a Sabbath. 17 Such [things] are only the shadow of things that are to come, and they have only a symbolic value. But the reality (the substance, the solid fact of what is foreshadowed, the body of it) belongs to Christ. (AMP)
Don't let anyone pressure you!
Paul saw believers being pressured about diets and days. The days and diets in themselves are nothing. They were pointing to the perfect that was to come and now that the perfect is with us the imperfect goes away. 1Cor.13.10 But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded). (AMP)
It now all about Jesus!

They were only symbolism pointing to Christ. When you see the lambs, goats and other animals being offered as sacrifices in the old testament, they were just pointing to Jesus christ the Lamb of God ( John 1:29). Now Paul had to put the last nail with regards to this matter. Mentioning foods, sabbaths, feast days, new moons he highlighted that these were just shadows of the coming reality and the reality is Christ. Let's say you are walking and the Sun is behind you, you cast your shadow ahead of you and before you announce yourself your shadow goes ahead of you. But finally you will come through and everyone would know whose shadow it was, and alas it was the shadow of Christ.
is the real deal!

Matt.11.28 Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (NLT)
Rest is not in the day, it is in Him!
They rested on the Sabbath but remained burdened, because the day in itself doesn't give any rest. Jesus had to make a clarion call for people to come unto Him the true Sabbath so that they may receive rest. People are wearied, people walk in streets absent minded, talking to themselves. Yet on Sabbath they are excused from work. Why then are they not rested? Because they missed the Lord of the Sabbath.
Matt.12.8 For the Son of Man is Lord [even] of the Sabbath. (AMP)

You can rest on sabbath and yet fail to find rest, because resting will not give you rest! Jesus knowing had to make this call, l have seen you resting on the sabbath day but you haven't rested a bit. You are still wearied, and burdened. Now home unto me, the true sabbath and you will find rest. Child of God in Christ we rest assured that our burdens shall be lifted.
1Pet.5.7 Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. (AMP)
cares for you!

Gen.2.2 - By the seventh day God had finished his work. On the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 - God blessed the seventh day. He made it a Holy Day Because on that day he rested from his work, all the creating God had done.
Sabbath: A Day or a person!
Is sabbath a day or a person, is it an it or a he? Going through the Bible with the issue of how God revealed the issue of sabbath shows that sabbath is not just a day.
Heb.4.9 So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God; 10 For he who has once entered [God 's] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own. 11 Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell]. (AMP)
Surely we do find true rest in Jesus our Sabbath! Sabbath day was the shadow, the type, and Jesus is the reality of the Sabbath. Let's find true rest in him!
Happy month of June!

The seventh day is surrounded with a lot of controversy. Some going to the extremes of saying whoever worship on any other day especially Sunday worships the beast. But no where in the Bible did God instruct us to worship on Saturday or Sabbath. It is true that the Jews worshipped on sabbath, and even Jesus went to the synagogue on sabbath. But there is no instruction whatsoever to worship on sabbath. The only instruction associated with sabbath is rest! This principle is not only Biblical, it's the same Chisi principle in African religions. The principle of rest is a universal principle ingrained by God in his people. A pointer to the ultimate rest that was to come!

And God rested!
Its not a sin to rest! After labouring one has to rest. Sometimes the greatest favour you need to do for yourself is to rest. Rest, reset, re charge! However do not reverse the order! Its 6 days of work and 1 day of rest! Unfortunately many start by resting 6 days and try to work 1 day. On worse scenarios it's just resting from day 1 and no work. Before you rest, show me the six days' work! God rested after work and so should you.
Resting is re-setting, resting is recharging! Don't continue with flat batteries!

Prov.26.14 - Just as a door turns on its hinges, so a lazybones turns back over in bed.
I have seen students on attachment acting like someone going for retirement. I have seen men and women so lazy that they cannot even dirty their hands to feed themselves. They are as good as doors turning on their hinges. When others wake up to do some productive work they already have a reason not to! They are lazy to work and lazy to think! They are best described by a song we used to sing for lazy people, " Torima musana unorwadza, pakudya ndomera manhenga!" While is is still morning, let's work. Even Jesus was born in a family of carpenters and become one in this life. All his disciples were masters in their own right!
never call lazy people, at most He doesn't call jobless people. Those He called, He found them doing something!

1Thess.4.11 This should be your ambition: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we commanded you before. (NLT)
Working with your own hands!
The most unfortunate thing to ever happen in Africa is a culture of wanting freebies. Men would rather line up, hero worship other men to be given free gifts. As good as it may sound no men should ever grovel to be given. Let your hands slave for you, workout something with your brains. Either sell a product or a service. I have been a farmer for quote some period of time and l tell you the greatest joy comes from enjoying your sweat. It actually taste better from your own labour. Work is not a curse, l know our present predicament seems like hard work does not pay but hear me child of God, God's principles never fail.
