DUTIES OF A TEACHER ON DUTY

Many people think a Teacher on Duty just “walks around.”
The truth? The Teacher on Duty is the heartbeat of the school for that day.

👇 Here are the key duties every Teacher on Duty is expected to handle:

✅ Morning Supervision
Ensures early resumption, proper uniform, and orderly movement of students.

✅ Assembly Control
Maintains discipline, proper lining up, and coordinates assembly activities.

✅ Classroom Monitoring
Checks that teachers are in class, lessons are ongoing, and students are not roaming.

✅ Break & Lunch Supervision
Monitors students to prevent bullying, fighting, and unsafe behaviour.

✅ Student Discipline
Handles minor issues, records offences, and reports serious cases appropriately.

✅ Health & Safety Oversight
Responds to accidents, directs sick students to the sick bay, and ensures safety.

✅ School Environment Control
Ensures cleanliness and proper use of school facilities.

✅ Closing & Dismissal
Supervises orderly dismissal and ensures students leave safely.

📝 At the end of the day:
A duty report is submitted with key observations and incidents.

📣 Remember:
A Teacher on Duty doesn’t just teach — they protect, supervise, and lead the entire school for the day.

👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 Teachers, school owners, and administrators —
Does your school take duty seriously?

🌞 DAY EIGHTEEN MORNING ASSEMBLY

Topic: Why Reading Makes You Powerful

Duration: 5–7 minutes
Aim: Help students clearly understand that reading shapes thinking, behaviour, confidence, and future opportunities.

OPENING

Teacher greets warmly:

“Good morning, students!”

Ask thoughtfully:

“Who here wants to speak confidently in public?”

“Who wants to understand questions quickly during exams?”

“Who wants to succeed beyond school?”

Pause and say:

“All these start with one simple habit:
reading.”

“Today’s topic is:
Why reading makes you powerful.”

MAIN MESSAGE (4 minutes – Expanded)

Teacher explains in layers:

> “Reading is food for the brain.
What food is to the body, reading is to the mind.”

Explain how reading gives power:

1️⃣ Reading improves thinking

> “When you read, your brain learns how to reason, compare, and analyze.”

2️⃣ Reading improves communication

> “Students who read can explain themselves better and answer questions clearly.”

3️⃣ Reading improves confidence

> “Confidence comes when you understand what you are saying.”

4️⃣ Reading opens opportunities

> “Every profession—doctor, teacher, engineer, leader—requires reading.”

Use a school example:

> “Two students may attend the same class.
The one who reads beyond the classroom understands more.”

Key emphasis:

> “Power is not shouting.
Power is understanding.”

Teacher says:

> “The Bible values knowledge and learning.”

1. Hosea 4:6 –
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
👉 Lack of reading leads to lack of understanding.

2. Proverbs 18:15 –
“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge.”
👉 Wise people intentionally seek knowledge.

3. Proverbs 4:7 –
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.”
👉 Wisdom begins with learning and reading.

4. 2 Timothy 3:16 –
“All Scripture is useful for teaching.”
👉 Reading shapes character and values.

🤝 INTERACTIVE MOMENT (1–1.5 minutes)

Ask students:

“What happens when you don’t read your notes?”

“Why do some students struggle to answer questions?”

Guide responses toward:

Poor understanding

Fear

Confusion

Then ask:

> “What simple habit can change this?”

Expected answer: Reading.

KEY LESSON (Clear & Memorable)

Teacher states firmly:

> “Reading today prepares you for tomorrow.”

Call & Response:

> Teacher: “I will read…”
Students: “…to become powerful!”

(Repeat twice)

CLOSING (Commitment & Challenge – 1 minute)

End with:

> “From today, make reading a daily habit:

Read your notes

Read storybooks

Read to understand, not to cram”

> “A student who reads controls their future.”

> “Let our school be a school of readers.”
