Biodiversity Symposium

CBC hosted a successful Biodiversity Symposium that brought together learners and partners committed to environmental awareness and sustainability.

We were privileged to welcome participants from the Girls College Climate Action Club, the Dominican Convent Environmental Club, and representatives from the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), Amnesty International, Kusasa Hub, and Green Hut.

Throughout the symposium, guest speakers shared the purpose and impact of their organisations, highlighting the importance of youth involvement in addressing environmental challenges. A strong emphasis was placed on the role young people play as future leaders and changemakers in promoting sustainable living and environmental responsibility.

Delegates also engaged in interactive group activities, including:

*designing environmental awareness campaigns
*creating slogans and mottos
*and proposing practical solutions to biodiversity challenges

These sessions encouraged creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, while deepening understanding of biodiversity conservation and sustainability.

The symposium proved to be a meaningful platform for dialogue, learning, and action, reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship and the collective responsibility we share in protecting our natural world.

Hammer & Tongues Tournament | Harare

Our CBC First Team Eagles took part in the Hammer & Tongues Tournament in Harare this past weekend, competing against strong opposition in a challenging and competitive environment.

The matches provided important lessons in resilience, decision-making, and teamwork under pressure. The squad continued to compete with commitment and determination throughout, representing the College with discipline.

Opportunities like these are an important part of the journey — building character, sharpening standards, and preparing the team for the demands of the remainder of the season ahead.

We thank the players and coaching staff for their effort and commitment, and we look forward to seeing the growth that will come from this experience.

From CBC to Province to Country

Following the recent provincial and national rugby trials, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our CBC rugby players who earned selection to represent Matabeleland, with two of our boys going on to gain selection for Zimbabwe.

Being chosen to represent your province is a significant accomplishment and reflects the commitment, hard work, and perseverance shown by these young men throughout the season so far. To then progress to national selection is an outstanding achievement and one that deserves special recognition.

We congratulate all of our Matabeleland representatives for their efforts and for the manner in which they represented both the province and the College. We are especially proud of our two Zimbabwe representatives, whose selections are a testament to their dedication and the support of their coaches, teammates, and families.

At CBC, sport is about growth, character, discipline, and striving to be the very best version of yourself. These selections are a wonderful reflection of those values in action.

Congratulations, gentlemen. Your CBC family is proud of you.

We wish all Zimbabwe representatives every success in the competitions ahead.

Formation Friday | Small Moments, Big Lessons

This week, our CBC marimba players spent time at Sunshine Place sharing music, laughter, and joy with some very enthusiastic young learners.

Beyond the performance itself, one of the most meaningful parts of the visit was watching our boys patiently helping the children try the instruments for themselves — encouraging them, guiding them, and celebrating their excitement as they learned.

At CBC, formation is often found in moments like these:

* in patience,
* in kindness,
* in leadership through service,
* and in the willingness to uplift others.

These are the moments that remind us that education is about far more than academics and sports alone. It is about forming young men who lead with humility, compassion, and character.

This is Formation in Action.

CBC IDENTITY SERIES - Rooted in a Global Tradition

Christian Brothers’ College is part of a global Edmund Rice tradition that began in Ireland in the early 1800s with a simple but powerful mission — to educate and uplift young people through faith, dignity, and opportunity.

From those early beginnings, the mission has grown across continents and generations, reaching Zimbabwe in 1953 and continuing to flourish here in Bulawayo today.

At CBC, we are not simply continuing a history — we are living a purpose: forming young men of character, service, and integrity in a changing world.

CBC Junior Soccer Festival 2026

A morning of football, community, coffee, and CBC spirit awaits this Saturday as Christian Brothers’ College proudly hosts the CBC Junior Soccer Festival 2026.

We look forward to welcoming Grade 7 teams from across the city for a day filled with exciting football, friendship, energy, and school community.

Venue: Christian Brothers’ College
Date: Saturday, 30 May

The festival is about far more than competition — it is an opportunity for young boys and families to experience the spirit, culture, and community that make CBC such a special place to learn and grow.

The CBC Soccer Parents will be providing catering throughout the day, while KCC Coffee — proudly run by one of our Old Boys — will be serving speciality coffees and milkshakes on site.

We are also grateful to a number of valued supporters, sponsors and partners of the College who will be joining us on the day and helping create an exciting and welcoming festival environment for families and visitors alike.

An information station will also be available for families wishing to:

* learn more about the College,
* ask questions,
* arrange school tours,
* or collect application information ahead of Entrance Examinations.

Whether you are supporting a team, enjoying the atmosphere, connecting with other families, or simply coming to experience CBC in action, we look forward to welcoming current and prospective CBC families for what promises to be a fantastic morning of schoolboy football, community spirit, and the formation of young men.
