ZCA-Mpika Students Hold Candlelight Ceremony for Deborah
Today, students of Zambia College of Agriculture - Mpika gathered for a candlelight ceremony to honour the life of Deborah, a final year Full Time Sustainable Agriculture student who sadly passed away in the early hours of 19 January 2026 during the holiday.
The ZCA community, together with friends and the wider agriculture fraternity, came together in solidarity to pay their last respects, share memories, and offer prayers for her.
We continue to extend our deepest condolences to Deborah’s family, friends, and all who knew her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace. 💔🕯️

‎As a student, balancing theory and practical work is not always easy. Most times, we find ourselves focusing heavily on books, assignments and passing exams but the truth is, theory alone is not enough.
‎
‎Innovation is what bridges the gap between what we learn in class and what we actually do in the field. It’s through innovation exhibitions, fieldwork and hands-on experience that real understanding is built.
‎
‎Unfortunately, many students overlook these opportunities. They attend lectures, cram for tests and graduate with strong theoretical knowledge but limited practical skills. This is becoming a serious challenge across many fields especially in agriculture and animal science where application matters just as much as knowledge.
