My fantasy for the university of Zambia. Is it feasible when Pigs Fly?

𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁) 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹

President Hakainde Hichilema's third Cabinet Meeting for 2023, held on February 21 and 22, at State House, approved six bills and four policy decisions for the current session of Parliament. One of the legislation approved and earmarked for introduction in Parliament is the Environmental Management (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

Here are some key proposals in the Bill:

✅Revision of the functions of the Zambia Environmental Management Agency;
✅Harmonisation of the provisions relating to solid waste management with the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act No. 20 of 2018;
✅Domestication of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer;
✅Provision for the registration of Pesticides and Toxic Substances (PTS); and
✅Revision of the provision on summary imposition of penalties.

Lusaka City and many other cities across the country need a sustainable solid waste management system. Firstly, there has to be cooperation among citizens. It is not the duty of the local authority alone to manage waste, it has to be a conjoined effort by all well meaningful Zambians. First thing first, change the attitude towards waste disposal (not for council alone but all) then dispose of waste in the bin or at a designated place. Finally, we need to be united to be successful. I have started a journey by drafting a plan for solid waste management. This plan will be beneficial in the sense that it will be serving two purposes such as waste treatment and also power generation for domestic use.
