PELLAGRA is caused by a deficiency in niacin (vitamin B3) or tryptophan, an amino acid that the body can convert into niacin.

Symptoms of pellagra are known as the three D's
- *Dermatitis*: Skin rashes that often occur in areas exposed to sunlight.
- *Diarrhea*: Digestive issues and gastrointestinal discomfort.
- *Dementia*: Neurological symptoms that can include confusion, memory loss, and changes in behavior.

WHOOPING COUGH
Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by the bacterium *Bordetella pertussis*. It is characterized by severe coughing fits that can make it difficult to breathe and may lead to a distinctive "whooping" sound when inhaling. The condition often begins with cold-like symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing, and mild cough, which can progress to more severe coughing spells over several weeks.

TRYPANOSOMIASIS
Sleeping sickness, or African trypanosomiasis, is a parasitic disease caused by Trypanosoma species, primarily Trypanosoma brucei gambiense and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected tsetse flies.

Symptoms: The disease progresses in two stages:
1. Early Stage: Includes fever, headaches, joint pains, and itching.
2. Late Stage: If untreated, it progresses to neurological symptoms such as confusion, changes in behavior, sleep disturbances, and in severe cases, coma and death.

Prevention: Measures include avoiding tsetse fly bites by wearing protective clothing and using insect repellent. In endemic areas, controlling the tsetse fly population and screening populations for the disease are important.

Symptoms of trench fever include:

1. Fever (usually quintan, or every 5 days)
2. Headache
3. Muscle pain
4. Joint pain
5. Fatigue
6. Nausea and vomiting
7. Rash (in some cases)

If left untreated, trench fever can lead to complications such as:

1. Endocarditis (infection of the heart valves)
2. Myocarditis

Mpox ( Monkeypox)

- Description: Mpox is a viral zoonotic disease caused by the Mpox virus, which is a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus. It is similar to smallpox but generally less severe. The virus is transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected animals, such as rodents, or through contact with bodily fluids, lesions, or contaminated materials from an infected person.

- Symptoms: Symptoms typically begin with fever, headache, muscle aches, and swollen lymph nodes. This is followed by a rash that progresses from flat red spots to raised bumps, then to fluid-filled blisters, and eventually scabs. The rash often starts on the face and spreads to other parts of the body.

- Diagnosis:Diagnosis is based on clinical symptoms and history of exposure to the virus. Laboratory tests, such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) assays, are used to confirm the presence of the virus.
