"Quality Education, Our Priority"
The Teaching Council of Zambia is mandated to regulate the Teachers, their conduct and accredit colleges of education.
We regulate the Profession through;
1. Student indexing (all students must register with the Teaching Council of Zambia and get a Student Teaching Experience Authority) acronymed as 'STEA', the document is to be presented to Administrators when they go for Teaching Practice;
2. Teacher Registration ( all teachers must be Registered, public, private, community and prospecting teachers alike. All are expected to apply for teacher registration, submit your verified credentials (grade 12 and Profession papers), a copy of National Registration card and a proof of payment. Submit to your nearest Debs or TCZ offices in Kasama, Kitwe, Livingstone and Lusaka's Jesmondine office on Mwambula road;
3. Licensing, all SERVING teachers must apply for a License otherwise Known as a Practicing Certificate. It shall be renewed after 3 years. If you have not received your License, it's shall definitely be availed by end of August, 2020.
For those that have not applied please do so as soon as possible. There are two types of payment modes, cash and instalments. For those in public schools, the circle is almost ending, so you can pay in installments of 3 - 16 months. Private schools, you pay in six(6) months. School owners are supposed to pay on behalf of their teachers. The License shall be given upon the first deduction reflecting;
Note: On application of the License, only attach your passport size photo, proof of payment if paying cash. If paying in installments, attach your payslip(with enough fiscal space. Only attach your qualifications if you obtained them after your Registration.
4. Inspections; currently, the TCZ on the ground . We wish to have the first hand Compliance levels. We earlier called on teachers to come and REGISTER and apply for the Licenses. Some chose not to....make sure you avail your credentials and get legal authority to practice;

Renewal of the License is in January, 2022. It is of Paramount importance that we all understand what is expected of us to achieve our intended goals overtime. Among other benefits you shall enjoy is capacity building...
Every teacher should have expected tenets and be ready to re-skilled to meet the market demands. The plans in the bigger picture are that, Education should be INCLUSIVE and that teachers (Human capital) must be re-skilled inorder to achieve.
Get closer, let's engage, social dialogue is so important for us.
