2024 GRADE SEVEN EXAMINATION RESULTS.
350,116 candidates have passed the 2024 Grade 7 examinations and will progress to FORM ONE in 2025 out of 491,785 who sat for the examination.
141,669 candidates have failed and will not proceed to Form One.
543,069 candidates registered for the 2024 Grade Seven (7) Examinations of which 542,913 were Zambians and 156 candidates were from St. Jeff College School in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Out of the total number of registered candidates, 491,785 sat for the examination while 51,284 candidates were absent.
This therefore, this means combining the 51,284 candidates who were absent and the 141,669 candidates who failed, a total of 192,953, candidates who had entered for the examination, shall not proceed to secondary school in 2025.
However, Education Minister Hon. Douglas Syakalima has directed the Permanent Secretaries in his Ministry to ensure that the learners who did not meet the standard for selection to Form One are accorded a chance to repeat primary education, while those who were absent are brought back to school within the year 2025.
“This is in adherence to the principle of not leaving any child behind,” Hon. Syakalima said.
The results show that the performance of learners has slightly improved from 2023 to 2024.
The pass rate has improved from 69 percent to 71.19 percent and absenteeism has slightly reduced.
“These achievements can be attributed to the massive recruitment of teachers, procurement of teaching and learning resources, improvement of the teaching and environment through infrastructure development, and the procurement of desks, to mention a few.” Hon. Syakalima announced.
