A LUSAKA BOUND JEHOVAH BLESSINGS COACH BURNS AS PASSENGERS LOOK ON FROM A STEADY DISTANCE.
While news of long distance busses catching fire continues to be the order of every year, one
thing bus operators seem not to pay much attention to is the issue of comprehensive maintenance whenever the bus arrives from each trip.
An important step in preventing future incidents is in understanding what has caused fires in the past. The causes of bus fires generally fall into three distinct categories: electrical, friction at the wheel level, and engine component failures. Many of these incidents
would have been prevented with a routine
maintenance and inspection program. From the first video uploaded here it is evident that the fire started from the wheels section before spreading to the other parts of the bus.
Remember! Tyres are not prone to self-ignition, as a tyre must be heated to at least 400 derees Celsius (750 degrees Fahrenheit) for a period of several minutes prior to ignition but know that extinguishing tyre fires is difficult.
Be wise! Road safety isn't a game of chance.
