LATTER FROM UNEMPLOYED YOUTH

Dear Mr President this year there was teacher deployment which demanded us to submit our documents to the Debs through the post office and it was so costly for us as unemployed.

A lot of money was wasted for photocopying, transport and for the whole process. The teaching service commission under Mr stanley muhango kept promising us that they will release names but until now they haven't been released. Therefore we demand Mr Stanley Muhango to release the Names this week failure to that he must resign for worsting our money and sitting on our Names. It is so painful to be treated like this. There is not one to speak for the unemployed teachers because everyone is comfortable is his comfort zone. Others criticize us when we speak because they already have jobs.
Those who have the voice please ask mr stanley muhango to release our manes or let him resign for failure to release our names. A very big thanks to all the rich people and all the working class but dont mock the poor and those who are not working.
To start a business one need capital so dont say that all we need is a job we are trained for kwasila 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.

ECZ COMMEMORATES | 2021 APSD

By Nicolas Nkhuwa | 21.06.2021

We join the rest of the continent of Africa in commemorating the Africa Public Service Day –APSD which falls on 23rd June 2021 under the theme:

“Building the Africa We Want through embracing an ethical culture that underpins purpose driven leadership in the Context of a Crisis”.

As Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ), we remain a strategic body in supporting and delivering education services to the Zambian people and beyond as mandated through an Act of Parliament No. 15, CAP 137 of the Laws of Zambia.

ECZ places value in the APSD by remaining focused on providing assessments of comparable international standards. To build the Africa we want, ECZ has localized it service provision by opening Service Centres in all the 10 Provinces of Zambia. These Centres are providing timely services to the locals thereby reducing travel time and cost. These saved resources are now channeled to other busy facets of the economy in bringing the much needed change and prosperity in the people at local level.

The Council has further gone to provided examinations in South Africa at a school called St Jeff College Primary School, thereby exporting a brand of the Zambian Education to that country.

As an Assessment body, ECZ associates at regional, continental and global levels through the Educational Assessment bodies such as SAAEA, AEAA, and IAEA. This ensures that best practices are shared and exchanged to promote value and improve education standards overall.

The ECZ has continued to operate for more than 30 years in an ethical manner and promote credible examinations through guidelines and working with various stakeholders to deal with some of the challenges such as exam leakages. In the last 9 years, the ECZ has seen an implementation of systems that have brought an end to leakages. Through its strategic plan 2016-2020, ECZ has scored in many areas including innovations that have pushed ECZ’s image positively and increased its visibility throughout the education value chain. We now have a separate GCE and Grade 9 External Examination running mid-year every year. We have introduced the accumulation of GCE Certificates for those with more than one certificate at this level. We provide verification of results at all our Service Centres.

The service charter has also seen a reduction in service time by providing service such as replacement of lost certificates within 15 working days instead of 9 months. Statements are replaced within 24 hours instead of 7 days or more. Results are published in a timely manner allowing for learner to have maximum teaching and learning time in class and for parents to plan for their children effectively after their release of results.

With this much development and exhibition of a focused leadership in the ECZ, we pledge continuity of quality service and remain open to ideas that will take the country to another level insofar as educational assessment is concerned. Together, this will build the Africa we want.

The Council, Management and Staff of Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) is deeply saddened by the death of our founding father, the first Republican President, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda.

We send our deepest condolences and wish the entire nation of Zambia and Africa God's strength and comfort.

Our Story

An Act of Parliament Number 15, CAP 137 established the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) in 1983 to set and conduct examinations and award certificates to successful candidates. Before this enactment, the Ministry of Education and Culture under the Examinations Section used to conduct the examinations. After the enactment, the section continued to perform the function of conducting the examinations while simultaneously developing an institutional framework and job descriptions. The full launch and operationalisation of the Examinations Council of Zambia was in 1987 as a semi autonomous public institution (Parastatal).

Over the years, ECZ has developed both in terms of institutional capacity and in the Management and Administration of Examinations at Grades 7, 9, 12, GCE and Teacher Education through the introduction of various examination reforms such as School Based Assessment, ICT based systems to improve service delivery, opening of regional offices in provincial towns, restructuring, partnerships among other innovations.

With the support from the Zambian Government and the Ministry of General Education, the ECZ has scored milestones in its 2016-2020 Strategic Plan. By now, the ECZ has started examining candidates in South Africa at Grades 7 and 9 at a school called the St. Jeff College Primary School. Indeed, this is a demonstration of the confidence that the outside world have developed in the Zambia school system and the Assessment of learners.

At the regional, continental and global scale, Zambia remains a key partner in developing Education. In 2014, we played host to the 42nd AEAA Conference and in 2016 the 10th SAAEA Conference to which we assumed chairpersonship of these Asssociation. This take the Zambian qualification and makes it a global currency that can be used for education or employment in any country.
