PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS GIRLS IN ICT DAY
On 23rd April 2026, FAWEZA successfully commemorated International Girls in ICT Day under the global theme, *“AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future.”* The commemoration was held at the University of Zambia and brought together over 200 GCE Remedial Learning Bursary participants, alongside other university students.
The engagement provided an inclusive platform for learning, interaction and collaboration in ICT and emerging technologies. The event was implemented in partnership with key stakeholders, including the Smart Zambia Institute and Africa Interactive Media, whose technical contributions enriched the programme.
Participants engaged in panel discussions, motivational talks and interactive dialogue sessions led by experts in Artificial Intelligence and ICT. These sessions not only facilitated knowledge sharing but also highlighted opportunities within the digital space while addressing barriers that continue to limit girls’ participation in STEM.
Through this multi-stakeholder collaboration, FAWEZA strengthened linkages between young women, institutions and industry players, creating pathways for mentorship, networking and continued engagement.
The commemoration reaffirmed FAWEZA’s commitment to promoting inclusive access to STEM and supporting marginalized young women to actively participate in and shape the digital future.
