We wrapped up Three Practical Sessions at Sanity House, and one thing became clear, financial literacy is not just about money, it is about identity, purpose and value.

We challenged the conversation beyond numbers:
Before money enters your hands, it must first pass through your identity.

📌 When identity is unclear, money is misused.

📌 When purpose is absent, money is wasted.

📌 When value is undeveloped, income is limited.

And from there, we unpacked the six financial pillars every individual must understand.

The goal was simple but powerful: To help individuals see themselves not just as earners or spenders, but as financial managers of their own lives.

Grateful for the impactful engagement, the honesty in the rooms, and the willingness to learn and grow.

We facilitated a session on Creative Entrepreneurship & Financial Foundations with a powerful group of creatives.

One key shift: “You are not just creatives. You are financial managers of your lives.”

We explored:
📌 Managing irregular income
📌 Setting clear financial goals
📌 Diversifying income streams
📌 Building sustainable creative careers

Talent without structure leads to struggle. The goal is not just to create, it’s to thrive.

Today we had the honor of engaging with high school learners from Kabulonga Girls, TwinPalm, Munali Boys, Munali Girls, and New Mtendere Secondary School under the Njira skills youth centre Learnserve Fellows Program.

Our focus was simple, but powerful: Budgeting and pitching ideas with numbers.

We challenged the learners to move beyond just having ideas but to also have an understanding of the numbers behind them.

Because:

An idea without numbers is a dream. An idea with numbers becomes a plan.

Through practical exercises, they learned how to:
📌Create simple budgets
📌Understand cost, price and profit
📌Structure their ideas into clear, confident pitches
📌Think like young entrepreneurs, not just pupils.

Helping young people understand money early is one of the most powerful ways to shape their future decision-making. What stood out most was their curiosity and willingness to engage. At that level, teaching finance is not about complexity, it is about clarity.

Today with young people through the Hear Us, See Us Initiative, an initiative committed to creating positive change and lasting impact among youth through self-development, leadership, and financial literacy.

Our session focused on answering some of the most common questions young people quietly carry about money:

• How do I understand money and its principles?
• Why does my money finish so fast?
• How do people my age afford the lifestyles I see online?
• Does not having money mean I’m failing or behind?
• What are realistic ways I can make money right now?
• How do I save when I earn very little?
• Is debt always bad, or sometimes necessary?
• Can I pursue purpose and still make money?

Beyond the questions, we explored deeper principles:

Self-awareness: Young people must discover who they are and stop competing with social media timelines. The real competition is you yesterday vs you today.

Stewardship: Money must be respected. Each one of us is a financial manager of the resources entrusted to us.

Clarity: Financial goals must be intentional. Direction gives money purpose.

Discipline, Consistency not excitement is what builds Stability over time.

Conversations like these remind us that financial literacy is not only about numbers. It is about identity, responsibility and long-term thinking.

📌 Cash gives flexibility but idle cash loses power without strategy.
📌 If all you have are assets that are not generating income (cash flow), you will end up selling those assets.
📌 Currency is supposed to flow.
