President Shamizhinga has commended practitioners for their efforts in promoting the human resources profession, noting that some of their contributions have gone unrecognised.

The President has called on members to continue promoting the profession both locally and internationally.

He said this during the launch of the 2026 HR Excellence Awards Media Launch, held this morning at Neelkanth Sarovar Hotel in Lusaka.

Following the launch, members will soon receive the Call for Nominations from the Institute.

ZIHRM Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Sikatumba Owen Chilala, delivered a speech on behalf of the President, setting the tone for the two-day workshop currently underway at Garden Court Hotel.

The workshop, themed "Personal Effectiveness and Attitude Change for Peak Performance," is one of ZIHRM's flagship events. It is designed to facilitate meaningful dialogue, foster professional networking, and promote the exchange of best practices among human resource professionals, policymakers, business leaders, and other key stakeholders.

Officially opening the workshop, ZIHRM Registrar and CEO Sikatumba Owen Chilala, speaking on behalf of his President, Kelvin Shamizhinga, called on participants to take keen interest in the deliberations of the workshop to transform their effectiveness in workspaces.

We had the honour of hosting the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM), Mr. Sikatumba Owen Chilala, at the ZIHRM exhibition stand during this year's show.

Pictorial highlights of PS Zecharia Luhanga's Visit to the ZIHRM stand

We were honoured to host the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Zecharia Luhanga, at the ZIHRM stand No. 6, Jubilee Hall.

During his visit, the Permanent Secretary interacted with ZIHRM staff and expressed his appreciation for the work the Institute continues to undertake in advancing human resource management and labour standards. He encouraged ZIHRM to strengthen integrated inspections across all districts of the country to further enhance compliance and service delivery.

Beyond inspections, Mr. Luhanga emphasised the importance of fostering even stronger collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and ZIHRM to advance the mandates of both institutions. He reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting the Institute and working together in areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

The Permanent Secretary was received by ZIHRM Compliance Manager, Robert Siwale, Corporate Affairs Specialist Isaac Dumbe, and ZIHRM Fellow, Davis Sikozi.
