Congratulations to our students Bwembya Bernard (Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatics Engineering), Lusale Bernard (Bachelor of Computer science), and Musonda Mwape (Bachelor of Accountancy) on qualifying to the final stage of the 2026 International Transport project contest to be held in Moscow Russia.

The student’s innovative Map Constrained Dead Reconning (MCDR) solution designed to maintain vehicle positioning when GNSS signals are lost or jammed achieved an impressive 99% improvement in positioning accuracy during testing.

INAUGURAL CBU SPORTS DAY 2026 – WHAT A DAY!
============================================
The first-ever CBU Sports Day 2026 was a vibrant celebration of sport, teamwork, talent and campus spirit!

For one exciting day, the books took a back seat as students and staff came together to compete, connect and showcase their talents beyond the classroom.
From intense chess battles and thrilling football action to laughter, cheers and friendly competition, the campus was filled with energy from start to finish.

More than just competition, the Sports Day provided an opportunity for the CBU community to build friendships, promote teamwork, stay active and strengthen the spirit of belonging.

The inaugural event has set the stage for what promises to be an exciting tradition at the Copperbelt University.

CBU LAUNCHES CHINESE LANGUAGE STUDY PROGRAMME
============================================
The Copperbelt University has launched its Chinese Language Study Programme under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Speaking during the launch, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Professor Paul Chisale described the initiative as a timely investment in preparing graduates for an increasingly interconnected world.

He encouraged students to embrace the opportunity with dedication, noting that proficiency in the Chinese language would enhance their academic, professional, and global prospects.

Meanwhile Sino-Zam Vocational College of Science and Technology Principal, Ms Wang Nan, said the programme would give students an opportunity to communicate and work with Chinese people and companies while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and traditions.

She further noted that the programme would also promote cultural exchange and strengthen the friendship between Zambia and China.

And student representative Petronella Kaungu thanked the University Management for introducing the programme, saying it would equip students with valuable language skills and broaden their academic and career prospects.

CBU Hosts Inspirational Engineering Symposium to Connect Students with Industry

The Copperbelt University, in collaboration with LauncHER Engineers Hub, successfully hosted the Inspirational Engineering Symposium to brdge the gap between the class room and the industry.

The symposium held under the theme, 'Engineering the Future: Inspiring Excellence Across Disciplines.' brought together students, lecturers and industry professionals from the School of Engineering and the School of Mines and Mineral Sciences to share knowledge, inspire innovation and strengthen the link between academia and industry.

Participants gained valuable insights from experienced engineers and academics through interactive panel discussions focusing on career development, leadership, innovation, professional ethics, resilience and emerging technologies.

Speaking during the event, representatives from both CBU and LauncHER Engineers Hub emphasized the importance of partnerships that prepare graduates to meet industry demands and contribute meaningfully to national development.

CBU Awards K1.5 Million Senate Research Grants

The Copperbelt University has awarded K1.5 million to members of staff under the Research Grant to support research that promotes innovation, knowledge generation, and national development.

The grants have been awarded to 10 researchers, with each recipient receiving K150,000.00 to implement their approved research projects.

Speaking during the award ceremony, Director Research and Innovation Professor John Siame congratulated the awardees, noting that their selection reflected the quality, relevance, and competitiveness of their research proposals, as well as their commitment to generating knowledge that contributes to Zambia's development and advances the University's research agenda.

CBU remains committed to strengthening research, innovation, and knowledge generation in line with Zambia's development priorities and its vision of becoming a leading research-intensive institution.
