🎤 THE LUSAKA DEBATING LEAGUE IS COMING TO LUSAKA OAKTREE SCHOOL! 🏆

We are excited to host the NDL’s Third Championship for Zambia, taking place on 3–4 October 2026 at Lusaka Oaktree School.

The competition is open to students in Grades 4–12, providing a platform for young people to sharpen their reading, writing, critical thinking and verbal communication skills, while exploring thought-provoking topics beyond the standard school curriculum.

📚 Grade 4–5: Group D | 4-minute speeches
📚 Grade 6–7: Group C | 4-minute speeches
📚 Grade 8–9: Group B | 6-minute speeches
📚 Grade 10–12: Group A | 8-minute speeches

💰 Registration: ZMW 1,400 per debater
👩‍🏫 Adjudicators: No registration fee
👨‍👩‍👧 Parents: Welcome to come and support our young debaters!

Top-performing teams will earn an invitation to the NDL’s 2026 Johannesburg Open, taking place 28 November – 1 December 2026.

Our Primary learners went all out for Crazy Hair Day! From wild colours and creative styles to the most imaginative hairdos, today was all about having fun, expressing ourselves and letting our personalities shine. 💇🏽‍♀️💇🏽‍♂️✨

🇿🇲✨ FROM ZAMBIA TO YALE! 🎓

Our girls have made their mark on the global stage! 🌍

Competing against 700+ senior scholars from 35 countries, they brought home an incredible 12 medals across the Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing and Team Debate — including 1 Gold and 3 Silver medals each. 🥇🥈🥈🥈

As one of just two African countries represented among 2,200+ scholars from around the world, they held their own against powerhouse teams from India, Japan, Indonesia, the UK, UAE and Singapore.

And now… YALE AWAITS!

Their outstanding performance has earned them a place at the Tournament of Champions at Yale, bringing together the world’s top scholars for the final stage of the season.

We couldn’t be prouder. 🇿🇲❤️

🇿🇲🌍 LOTS TAKES THE ROAD TO YALE! 🌍🇿🇲

Our LOTS flag is flying proudly alongside the Zambian flag in Thailand! 🇿🇲✨

Three of our brilliant LOTS girls are representing Zambia and Lusaka Oaktree School at the World Scholar’s Cup Bangkok Global Round, joining 2,000+ students from over 30 countries for an unforgettable celebration of learning, ideas and global connection.

Over the coming days, our girls will take on Team Debate, Scholar’s Bowl, Collaborative Writing and the Scholar’s Challenge — putting their knowledge, creativity, teamwork and critical-thinking skills to the test.

But this journey is about more than competition. It’s about representing Zambia on a global stage, making new connections, embracing different cultures and opening doors to bigger opportunities.

The ultimate goal? A place at the Tournament of Champions at Yale University this November!

And just like that, we’re back!

New term, familiar faces, fresh beginnings and plenty of moments to look forward to. From catching up with friends to settling back into the classroom, Day 1 was all about reconnecting and getting ready for another exciting term of learning, growth and discovery.

What an incredible Cape Town experience for our learners!

Our debaters proudly represented the school at the NDL Cape Town International Debating Championship, delivering an outstanding performance and earning well-deserved recognition:

🏆 White Ngoma (CP6) — 3rd Place & Trophy
🏆 Lakshya Khanve (LS2) — 2nd Place Best Speaker, Trophy & Medal
🥈 Lushomo Mweemba (CP5) — Best Speaker Medal
🥉 Dodi Ilunga & Zumani Soko (IGCSE 1) — Debate Medals

Many of our learners were also recognised as Best Speakers in one or more rounds, reflecting their confidence, preparation and debating ability.

But the learning didn’t stop at the debating floor. During their time in Cape Town, our learners also explored some of the city’s iconic attractions:
