As climate change continues to wreak havoc, we are presently confronted with the devastating effects of DROUGHT and unbearable heat, an ominous preview of impending disasters unless we prioritize climate adaptation and resilience.

This reality echoes the poignant words of President John F. Kennedy, who aptly noted, 'Our most fundamental shared connection is our occupancy of this planet. We share the same air, a common aspiration for our children's well-being, and mortality.'

The pressing threat of climate change constitutes a universal adversary that demands collective action to mitigate its devastating consequences.
Its undisputable impact on healthoutcomes underscores the need for urgent capacity building among all actors.

Yesterday we concluded the 3 Weeks Cholera media sensitization strategy dubbed - "Cholera Quiz"

Discussions were held around Cholera, Vaccines after which members of the public would call in and win prizes after answering questions about the subject. The last episode delved into ZMA making recommendations to GRZ on what needs to be done to permanently end this scourge.

I hope, you learned a thing or two about keeping our country safe both at Government level (Health in all policy) and personal level (social behavioral change).

It's great to note the significant drop in both community and facility cases.

Oral Cholera Vaccines (OCVs)have proven to a cost-effective and short to medium-term intervention in curbing Cholera epidemics.

Following the Global Taskforce For Cholera Contol's ( ) approval and delivery of the OCV in the country, 1.5 million doses have been administered to residents in hotspots, however, and continue to hamper the efforts to cover risk populations.

As part of our strategies to support the response, tomorrow we discuss all matters vaccines, in an effort dispel some of the community misconceptions and beliefs about vaccines. Join us as we interact through Q&A with the public.

We maintain our position that OCVs are not the sustainable solution but INFRASTRUCTURE, behavioral change on personal hygiene, decentralization of development to rural areas, addressing economic fundamentals that in turn increase income per capita.....etc
