ANNOUNCEMENT

We are excited to announce the launch of the Pre-RWC Mentorship Series, beginning tomorrow and running over the next three weeks. This initiative is aimed at helping first-year students transition smoothly from Main Campus to Ridgeway Campus.

Organized in collaboration with the three academies offering medical tuitions at Ridgeway, the programme is designed to lay a strong academic and social foundation before results are released. Thereafter, a more intensive course-focused orientation will follow, preparing students for the official physical orientation.

Our first session will be held tomorrow in partnership with Teach Your Juniors (TYJ) Medicine, and will focus on peer-led mentorship, guidance, and insights into academic life at Ridgeway.

We encourage all first-year students to actively participate and make the most of this foundational programme.

A 65-year-old woman presents with progressive fatigue, weight loss, and intermittent episodes of severe hypoglycemia. She has no history of diabetes and is not on any medications. On examination, she is cachectic, with no obvious hepatosplenomegaly. Laboratory results show:
• Fasting glucose: 2.4 mmol/L (low)
• Serum insulin: elevated
• C-peptide: elevated
• Beta-hydroxybutyrate: low
• Insulin autoantibodies: negative

A supervised fast in the hospital induces symptomatic hypoglycemia with inappropriately high insulin levels.
