"Its my real hair, Lyla, is that your real hair and are you Zambian" I asked and she chuckled
"Yes its my hair, and I'm Zambian, well my dad is Zambian but mom is British" she said. Soon we were at the bus station
"It was really nice meeting you Lyla" I said about to board the bus

I arrived home and there were two jeeps parked outside my house written Cornell university, my stomach turned. The website is real, I don't wanna go to new York hell I don't even have enough money to pay for the fees. I walked in and found a bunch of white people in my living room.
"This is her" mom said
"Congratulations Annie, your scholarship has been approved. You'll be a student at Cornell from next week" the elderly one said
"You're joking right"
"No we're not missing shanton this is once in a lifetime opportunity" he continued and mom smiled
"I'm not going"

I woke up with eye bags and an empty tummy, that's what I get for not eating last night. I prepared myself for work and checked my phone, 45 missed calls from Lindiwe and Nelly I rolled my eyes and threw my phone in my bag. I came home later than usual because I walked as slow as I could. I took a bath and put on my shirts and a tank top then threw myself on the bed. My phone buzzed, Lindy just tagged me in a post captioned 'safe heaven, new York.

*2 months later*

(Sighs) February 14th my most loathed day. Man I hate this day, the only day that girls get anything just for a f**k session.
"These bi***es are stupid" I say to myself as I saw a couple dressed in red and black kissing. Pathetic, I scoffed out loud when I saw a girl wearing a long black gown, she tripped on it and fell face first in a pile of mud. I laughed so loud that other people joined in
"What are you laughing at" the girl asked and I looked left and right then back at her
"Stop acting dumb you know I'm talking to you"
"The dumb one is you for wearing that ridiculously long dress" I said and some people including her boyfriend laughed at her, I kinda felt sorry for her. I came out of my booth and walked up to her as she glared at me with teary eyes. I got a dress from my bag and handed it to her, I always come prepared for such incidents
"You can change in my booth" I said
"Thanks" she said and got in to change my dress fit her perfectly.

"Boss" Leah called carrying a riffle
"Yes gorgeous" I said turning to look at her
"The shipment is ready,just awaiting your orders" she said and I nodded
"I want no mistakes, the NYPD is my best customer if there's even a slight mistake, you lose your pretty head" I said caressing her cheek and she nodded with a smile.
Some might wonder how I got into the weapons business, its not illegal though I do go to some extra lengths to get what I want when I want it. Back in my country I was considered a failure but here I am, I've made enough money to buy off a whole country. For some people I'm just a normal 18 year old attending Princeton college but to my clients I'm the richest man in the business so don't be fooled by my looks.
My company, Trinity, is a well known company that manufactures all types of weapons but its not complete.

I woke up later in the afternoon with tear marks on my face, I took my bath had my lunch and went back to bed. My buzzed and it was a text from the WhatsApp group Lindy made for the party.
"Hey guys, I'm so sorry to say this but the party is canceled. I'm moving to new York tomorrow and I won't be able to host the party. Nelly and Elizabeth are both moving to Japan as well I'm so sorry" and that was it, all my friends disappeared 😭. I cried like a baby after reading the text "I'm gonna be the lonely kid now" I said while I cried. I received an email from "Cornell university" 🙄 saying I've been accepted and they requested my address I laughed hysterically and sent the address scammers really have nothing to do with there lives i said and cried till I fell asleep again.

I waved it off and went online using my sisters laptop,I checked out a few colleges in Zambia, I found a website for a university in NY that was giving out scholarships I figured it was just a scam so I signed in for the February intake at cornell university. I brushed it off and logged into my fb account. Everyone was gossiping about the results being ready I knew it was a sham, at least I hoped it was until Lindiwe called
"What lin...i answered knowing fully well what she wanted to say
"Have you heard..she asked sounding nervous

"I'm scared to look..she said and I rolled my eyes

I almost checked mine when mom barged into my room and gave me a hug
"Uhm mom,please let go" I said barely able to breathe
"My daughter,you've made me proud" she said letting me go, she showed me the results on her phone and I screamed jumping up and down on the bed
"Holy s**t, holy s**t I passed" my phone rang and it was Lindy

"I'm tired mom, everyone is leaving. Jack left, Will left and now Lindiwe my crazy bitch is leaving" I said and slumped on my bed as tears steamed down my cheeks
"Well you still have Nelly an.." A call cut her off

~Empty starts~
I woke up early the next morning l woke up early and prepared for church, I wore a black fitted gown with the brown ankle boots, mom doesn't joke with church. We all went to church except for my brother, He's the rebel of the family.
The church service was over and we came back home, I changed into my shorts and tank top. My phone rang and it was an international line.
"Hello..
"Hey Annie...
"Jack?..
"You finally decided to speak...
"You idiot, now you dream of calling huh?..
"I missed you too besty.. He said with a corny laugh
"Shut it you corny bastard I don't miss you... I yelled
"Oh.. He said sadly
"Goodbye then...
"Jack Flexton if you dare.. He laughed before I could finish my sentence
"I knew you missed me.. He said laughing
We spoke for a while and filled me in on NY life

I wore a towel around my waist letting only the top piece show. I walked to the living and everyone's eyes were on me
"Well take it off" Lindy said and I glared at her
"You can have these too" she said waving some nike trainors
"Fine" I said and dropped the towel while pouting
"Whoa" Eli exclaimed

"Hell no! My daughter ain't wearing that" mom said and I grinned

I happily went back to my room and changed into sweats and a sports bra and went back to the living room. Everyone jumped out and shouted "surprise!" While Lindy poured wine on me

"Hey cut the cake" Nelly said handing me the knife, I cut the cake and fed my mom and my friends as they smeared the frosting allover my face.
"Happy birthday baby girl" Lindy said and they all hugged me.
