The 2026 Language Fair: A Celebration of Voices, Minds and Confidence
The highly-anticipated Language Fair, held on 6th March 2026, was a lively and exhilarating event that brought together learners, teachers, and guests to celebrate language and talent. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as learners showcased the results of weeks of preparation for this annual highlight in the school calendar.
The programme showcased a wide range of engaging activities that highlighted the learners’ creativity and confidence in using English. One of the day's highlights was a captivating performance of Wole Soyinka's The Lion and the Jewel, delivered with impressive skill and enthusiasm. Other activities included a debate competition, spelling bee, tongue twisters, public speaking presentations, and poetry recitals, each offering learners the chance to express themselves in unique and inspiring ways.
Teachers were not excluded from the excitement. They watched closely, with keen eyes and eager ears, ready to witness yet another memorable display of the learners’ increasing ability to communicate confidently and creatively in English.
This year’s Language Fair also had an exciting international touch, as the Form 1 learners presented both a poem and a song in French. Their performance beautifully demonstrated the importance of language learning and how languages enrich our everyday communication and global understanding.
The theme for this year’s event, “Language for Shaping Voices, Minds and Building Confidence,” was clearly reflected in the learners’ performances. It was both engaging and impressive to see learners stand before an audience and express themselves confidently across various activities.
At one point during the event, a brief shower threatened to interrupt proceedings. However, the audience remained steadfast, and the rain lasted only a few minutes. Soon after, the sun returned, allowing the programme to continue smoothly without any disruption.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our generous award sponsor, 260 Brands, whose beautifully wrapped hampers and school bags added colour and excitement to the Language Fair. Your support played an important role in motivating and rewarding our learners.
Our heartfelt gratitude also goes to the evergreen DK Alumni, whose monetary contribution towards hosting the event greatly supported the fair's successful organisation.
The 2026 Language Fair was truly a memorable event—celebrating creativity, confidence, and the power of language to shape young voices and minds.
The Language Fair remains one of the school’s most exciting academic events, fostering confident communicators and celebrating the influence of language in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
