SHINING THE SPOTLIGHT: MWALE M TEMBO (MMT)
Director Mwale M. Tembo (MMT) – FIoDZ , who is a distinguished leader in accounting, finance and governance and co‑founder and director of MMT Ventures Holdings Limited, an investment vehicle advancing sustainable solutions, capital, media and professional services in Zambia and Ireland.
With more than 20 years of international and local experience reflect discipline, integrity and values ‑ anchored leadership, he exemplifies the modern director; globally informed, technically exceptional and purpose‑driven.
From humble beginnings as a fuel attendant in Chipata, MMT rose to serve on the ZICA Council, chairing Audit & Risk and Vice‑chairing Education & Training committees. MMT contributed to the IoDZ’s inaugural Corporate Governance Conference Organising Committee as the Vice Chair. His journey demonstrates that leadership is built through resilience, service and unwavering commitment.
MMT’s professional path spans PwC, EY UK & Ireland, BDO Zambia and Yara International, where he was the business Controller and Internal controls lead across Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
His expertise covers IFRS, US GAAP, US GAAS, FRS 101/102 and CSRD/ESG, positioning him as a trusted professional in global financial reporting and governance.
MMT has taught finance, accounting, and governance at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels across Zambia (UNZA, ZCAS, & UNILUS), Angola and South Africa.
He is a Fellow of ZICA, Associate of CIMA, CA (ZM), and a member of the Corporate Governance Institute Ireland and Institute of Directors Ireland (IoDI) and Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia.
MMT holds BA in Accounting, MBA, MSc Economics and Finance, Diploma in Sustainability (CA Ireland), certificate in Diplomatic Practice, Protocol and Public Relations and certificate in Investor Advisor and Stockbroker Course.
A passionate advocate for the environment and young professional mentorship, his mentorship hub has been guiding over 700 emerging professionals into becoming future-ready corporate leaders and entrepreneurs.
