🌟 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING — EQUIPPING LEADERS FOR GREATER IMPACT

On Tuesday, 8th September 2026, Toastmasters club officers and members gathered at ABSA Headquarters in Lusaka, Zambia, for an insightful leadership development training.

The session was facilitated by:

Region Advisor | International Leader | TEDx Speaker | Mentor

Through practical insights, engaging discussions, and shared experiences, participants explored essential principles for becoming more adaptable and effective leaders.

The training emphasized being aware of ones work style coupled with continuous personal development, purposeful communication, collaboration and the responsibility of leaders to inspire and empower others. Participants also had an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and learn from one another.

A heartfelt thank you to Nadine Mbikina, DTM, for facilitating such an impactful session. We also appreciate all the Toastmasters club officers and members who participated, as well as ABSA Zambia for hosting the engagement.

Tomorrow, the Toastmasters world gathers in Vancouver.

And District 129 has a place on that world stage. 🌍

After an extraordinary journey through the International Speech Contest, District 129 Champion Sharmila Kalachand now advances to the International Semifinals.

From one stage to the next, she has carried the District 129 banner with courage, excellence and determination.

On Thursday, 20 August, that journey reaches one of its biggest moments yet as Sharmila competes in Semifinal 1.

Please join us in congratulating TM Martin Maurice as the Area E4 Director for the 2026–2027 Toastmasters year.

A member of Standard Bank Toastmasters Club, Martin Maurice is a dynamic leader, public speaker, and communications professional with a passion for developing people and creating meaningful impact. He currently serves as a Client Experience Officer at Standard Bank Malawi and Director of Ceremonies at Klear Comms Media, bringing extensive experience in client experience, corporate banking, marketing, leadership, and event facilitation.

Throughout his Toastmasters journey, Martin has demonstrated a strong commitment to member development and club excellence. He previously served as Vice President Education of Standard Bank Toastmasters Club, playing a key role in the club’s achievement of Smedley Distinguished status. His leadership reflects a collaborative spirit and a genuine commitment to helping others grow.

A member of Madison Toastmasters Club, Olivia is an accomplished finance executive , executive customer service expert and Diplomat who is driven by training leaders to become passionate leaders with their personal growth and leadership, a coach, facilitator, and public speaker dedicated to helping individuals unlock their potential through effective communication, emotional intelligence, and purposeful leadership.

Throughout her Toastmasters journey, Olivia has served in several club leadership roles, including Club President of Innovation Hub Toastmasters Club. She is also an experienced Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) Trainer, mentor, and coach who is passionate about developing leaders and strengthening clubs. A member of Zambezi Toastmasters Club, Nnena is an accomplished finance executive and entrepreneur with over 15 years of leadership experience, bringing strategic thinking and a passion for developing people to her new role.

Since joining Toastmasters in February 2020, Nnena has embraced servant leadership, serving in every club officer role; from Secretary to Club President. She also sponsored the establishment of the Zambian Entrepreneurs Toastmasters Club, creating opportunities for more people to develop their communication and leadership skills through Toastmasters.
