IPM held a Workshop at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka on the 20th to 21st of April 2023.

The workshop was about Trustees' Board, Audit, Risk Compliance Committees & Trust Secretaries under the Theme; 'Innovate or Die.'

It was an informative and engaging event in which the importance of strong governance and effective risk management practices was discussed, the critical role of trustees and trust secretaries in ensuring that their organizations operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Further more, there was a discussion around audit and compliance practices. We explored the importance of maintaining high standards of financial reporting and how to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Overall, the workshop provided valuable insights into best practices for those involved in governance, risk, and compliance.

To wind up the 2022 Workshop Highlights, we look at the last corporate training Workshop held in December 2022 at Chaminuka Lodge Lusaka.

The Institute held a training titled Pension Funds and Alternative Investment Workshop in which various topics were discussed like;

-The role of capital markets regulators and trustees fostering developmental impact
- Economic environment analysis and investment climate
- Traditional & alternative investment
- Portfolio rebalancing, asset allocation and risk management etc.

Institute of Pension Management held a summit in the 3rd Quarter in September 2022 on Pension Schemes Board Dynamics Summit and Trustees Effectiveness at The Urban Hotel.

Key topics looked at were:

1. Rethinking member engagement and benefits in the the knowledge economy
2. Life cycle of scheme investment decisions
3. Scheme governance auditing
4. Trustee board performance management -Corporate governance
5. Strategic plan formulation , implementation and risk
management
6. Infrastructure investment for pension funds (had a Kenyan Case Study)

In the Last month of the 2nd Quarter of 2022, a training for Pension Schemes was held at Chaminuka Lodge in Lusaka looking at Corporate Governance and Administration. It was targeted at trustees, principal officers, secretariats team and pension industry players. Key topics discussed were:
1. The role of the Pension Fund Administrator
2.Template terms of Reference for committees
3. The relationships between the committee, main board, service providers and regulators etc.

We had trustees from various institutions; the likes of KCM, Airtel Zambia, Chilanga Cement, Sandvik Mine, Kwacha Pension Trust Fund, Deloitte, Zambezi River Authority etc.
