Behind every button, graph, alarm, and dashboard is a system designed to help operators monitor processes, make decisions, and keep operations running efficiently.

HMI provides visibility and control at the machine level.

SCADA takes that information further, enabling monitoring, data collection, reporting, and supervision across entire systems.

What you see on the screen is only a fraction of what these technologies actually do.

A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) only does two things: it sees and it acts.

Inputs are what the PLC uses to "see" what's happening in the field (push buttons, sensors, limit switches, pressure switches).

Outputs are how the PLC "acts" by controlling devices (contactors, relays, indicator lamps, solenoid valves).

In simple terms: Input = Information into the PLC Output = Action from the PLC

Example: A sensor detects low pressure โ†’ the PLC processes the information โ†’ a contactor is energized โ†’ the pump starts.

Understanding inputs and outputs is the foundation of industrial automation and control systems.
