TOPIC: STATIC ELECTRICITY
BY DEFINITION:
This is the study of electricity which is at rest.electric charges do not move in a conducting wire under this field like current electricity.
🚫How do we know that charges are really there??
📘Remember any object consist of atoms that further consist of electrons and protons.Electrons are negatively charged particles and protons are positively charged particles, however electrons are the only particles that can move from one object because they are located in the shells or energy level unlike protons that are enclosed in the nucleus and cannot move out.
➡️For this, electricity is generated from the moving electrons✏️
➡️Static electricity talks these charges at rest i.e charges are there in your hair and when you try to rub the pen in your hair,the pen will charged because it's has gained electrons from the hair.
➡️The charged pen is able to attract some other materials like plane Paper, a plastic after been charged.
There's another question,since you can't see charges
🚫How do you know that this material has been charged.
🚫To be more precise,HOW DO YOU DETECT CHARGE.
Well,we use an instrument called ELECTROSCOPE to detect these electric charges.
One category of this instrument is Gold leaf ELECTROSCOPE 📘

It consists of a vertical metal rod, usually brass, from the end of which hang two parallel strips of thin flexible gold leaf. A disk or ball terminal is attached to the top of the rod, where the charge to be tested is applied.

For the detection of charge, the object that needs to be tested is touched with the metal cap. If the leaves diverge, the body is said to be charged and if there is no change in the leaves of the electroscope, then the body is uncharged
