Hands-on Training in Action at Palabana University!

On 6th March 2026, the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences stocked 15,000 fingerlings in three nursery ponds as part of practical training for Aquaculture and Fisheries students.

The Head of Department, Mr. Oliver J. Hasimuna highlighted that Palabana University is setting a model in aquaculture training by actively engaging students in hands-on practical activities from their first year, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and innovative competencies required by the aquaculture industry.

At Palabana University, we believe that combining practical training with research and theory is the most effective way to prepare students for real industry challenges. The stocked fingerlings will be carefully nurtured in the nursery ponds until they reach an appropriate size, after which they will be transferred to production ponds where they will be grown to market size.
This initiative not only strengthens practical training for students but also contributes to fish production aimed at generating revenue for the institution, helping to support the sustainability of training programs.

When it comes to agricultural training, Palabana University i, definitely, the destination!
