We excitedly ended January 2024 with a capacity building and content mapping session with teachers in Nkayi, rural Zimbabwe. A select number of teachers in Nkayi and Binga districts worked on their digitals skills and to link/map the Zimbabwe Secondary School Curriculum to Open Education Resources (OER4Schools) on Learning Equality's Kolibri Studio.
The teachers will then support other teachers, in a cascade model, through weekly and bi-weekly teacher group meetings, a cardinal part of Continuous Teacher Professional Development.
The teacher will use the content offline in the their rural schools for students to have access to a broad range of teaching and learning material.

We are still in Zimbabwe; supporting Teacher Professional Development and the use of OERs. We in Nkayi, Matebele North. It's been over 4 years since the OER4School Programme was first introduced here.
During our time, we will work with the teachers and learn about successes, the need for refresher courses, (we are always learning!) and generally find out what is working and where we can all do better to support access to quality education.

Kudos to Kenya.
As reform expert Michael Barber says, ‘the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teacher”.

Binga, Matebele North, Zimbabwe: Teachers during their Teacher Group meeting (TGM) exploring students tablets and discussing how they are going to introduce digital resources in the classroom.
After the initial in-person training session, teachers take the lead in their own professional development and have weekly/bi-weekly TGMs. During the TGMs, teachers work through the OER4Schools modules and looks at how to manage student behaviour, differentiation, managing limited resources and any challenges they might encounter whilst integrating ICT in their classrooms.
The teachers have access to in-person and remote mentoring and support. They create and are part of communities of practice as they continue to work on their methodologies
