| ZMA INDUCTED EDEN UNIVERSITY'S 35 DOCTORS – 27 SEPT 2024

On this day last year, 27th September 2024, the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) inducted the class of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) doctors from Eden University.

This landmark ceremony celebrated 35 new doctors, marking a significant milestone for both the university and the nation's healthcare sector.

ZMA President, Dr. Masiku Phiri, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly inducted doctors. He emphasized that the ZMA remains a steadfast partner, committed to advocating for the employment of doctors and ensuring a supportive professional environment. Dr. Masiku encouraged the graduates to uphold the highest standards of practice and to look after their personal health and well-being. He imparted a final piece of wisdom: "Honor your teachers, and honor those who came before you. Your journey is built on their knowledge and experience, and your success is a testament to their dedication."

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the Vice Chancellor of Eden University, Dr. Alvert N. Ng'andu, who congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold the highest standards of practice and embrace innovation. The Health Professional Council of Zambia (HPCZ) Deputy Registrar for Technical Services, Dr. Muhumpu Kamfwamfwa, reinforced the council's role in ensuring high standards of care. The induction reached its peak as the ZMA Secretary General, Dr. Innocent Ngwira, led the new doctors in reciting their oaths, a powerful symbol of their dedication to this noble profession. This momentous occasion was also attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Eden Prof. Flavien N. Bumbangu, and the Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. Nchimunya Machila, and Eden's CEO, Mr. Kelvin Kaunda.

We celebrate these doctors again today as they continue serving Zambia.

Eden University Hosts Self-Harm Awareness Programme to Strengthen Student Support

The Office of the Dean of Students Affairs at Eden University, in collaboration with the Psychology Section under the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences (SEHSS), has successfully hosted a Self-Harm and Su***de Awareness Programme at the Barlastone Main Campus.

The initiative brought together student leaders from various associations and focused on raising awareness about the warning signs, risks, and realities surrounding self-harm and su***de.

It also emphasized the importance of early support and timely intervention for students facing emotional, social, and academic challenges.

Speaking during the programme, facilitators highlighted the need for a more informed, supportive, and responsive campus environment in addressing mental health concerns among students.

The event featured a moment of silence in honour of individuals affected, alongside engaging activities including a dramatic sketch, poetry presentation, and educational sessions delivered by members of the Eden Psychology Students Association.

Students also received guidance from key speakers, including the Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Nduna, Psychology Programme Coordinator, Ms. Matambo, and Dr. Aaron Mvula, who all stressed the importance of seeking help and supporting one another.

EDEN UNIVERSITY, HOSPITAL WELCOME WINKY D AHEAD OF BRAAI FEST

Eden University and EDEN University Hospital have welcomed Zimbabwean musical artist Winky D ahead of his anticipated performance at the ZAM 🇿🇲–ZIM 🇿🇼 Braai Fest: The Ultimate Edition.

The two sister institutions are among the official sponsors of the event, which will also feature top Zambian artists including Yo Maps and Vinchenzo, among others.

The music festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 11th April 2026 at the Lusaka Showgrounds Main Arena, promising a vibrant celebration of music, culture, and cross-border unity.
