International School of Lusaka

International School of Lusaka ISL is an authorized IB World School and a Cambridge International Examinations centre for IGCSE There are over 650 students from over 50 different countries.

The International School of Lusaka, founded in 1963, is one of the oldest international schools on the continent of Africa, and is currently the third largest such school in the Association of International Schools in Africa. The teaching staff consists of over 60 professional educators from 15 countries. The School is overseen by a Board of Governors, 9 of whom are elected by the ISL Association.

The Association is composed of the parents of the students attending ISL and the professional teaching staff. The school is directed by the Head of School, who is supported by the Deputy Head of School, the Primary Principal, the Secondary School Principal and the Finance Manager.

From exploring the campus to learning about programmes and admission pathways, the experience encouraged students to start thinking about their future with greater confidence and purpose. Experiences like these help make future possibilities feel real and empower students to begin shaping their own pathways.

Looking back at a milestone worth celebrating.
As we look back on the 2025/2026 academic year, we celebrate our Year 6 students and their Rite of Passage, marking the culmination of their Primary Years Programme journey and the growth they experienced along the way.

Through their PYP Exhibition and years of inquiry, exploration, and learning, our students demonstrated curiosity, confidence, and growing independence. Now in Year 7, they have begun a new chapter in their learning journey, taking their next steps into the IMYC and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of how far they have come and look forward to seeing all they will achieve in this next chapter.

Our Year 7, 8, and 9 students showcased their learning at the IMYC Joint Exit Point through skits, songs, traditional dances, multimedia presentations, recycled fashion, and more. By presenting their understanding in creative and authentic ways, students strengthened their confidence, communication skills, and ability to make meaningful connections across disciplines.

Our Year 4 students visited the Trade Kings manufacturing plant, where they explored how everyday products are made while gaining first hand insights into manufacturing, quality control, and workplace safety. Looking back on a year of inquiry and innovation.
Our Year 12 students showcased exceptional critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity at this year's Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition. Through thoughtful presentations exploring real world knowledge questions, they demonstrated the skills that lie at the heart of an IB education.

Experiences like the TOK Exhibition challenge students to think deeply, question assumptions, and make meaningful connections between knowledge and the world around them. A memorable milestone in their academic journey and one we are proud to celebrate.
