Employ 'all' volunteers as you recruit 2,500 more Health Workers, Hichilema directs Health Minister

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has directed Health Minister Dr. Alex Katakwe to employ and formalise the employment status of volunteer medical staff at Yuka Adventist Mission Hospital in Kalabo, Western Province.

And President Hichilema has disclosed that his ADC, Shapa Waku'nguma was born at Yuka Adventist Mission Hospital adding that, the facility has for a long time contributed to the wellbeing of surrounding communities.

Speaking when he commissioned Radiology Unit, Maternity and Pediatric wards at Yuka Adventist Mission Hospital, the Head of State assured hospital management that all volunteering staff at the facility would be employed.

"All those who have been volunteering here [Yuka Adventist Mission Hospital], we'll take care of your situation because you have already shown your commitment by working as volunteers," President Hichilema says, adding that, "It means you love your work and if you love your work, you serve the community and therefore it is the duty of Yuka and Government to formalise your situation. We'll formalise your situation."

The President cautioned Dr. Alex Katakwe against making an excuse on his directive.

"Dr. Katakwe when you recruit, these will be priority... don't come and say I didn't hear properly," the Head of State remarked sparking ululations from the gathering.

Dr. Alex has announced that government is scheduled to employ 2,500 more Health Workers this year.
