For the first time ever, Zambia’s Grade 12 pass rate has crossed 70%. A record of progress, proof that free education is bearing fruit.

Education Minister, Hon. Douglas Syakalima has announced the 2025 Grade 12 results.The Minister highlighted the following :
✅Record enrolment: 197,777 candidates registered in 2025, up 14.35% from 2024, showing the impact of free education.

✅ High participation: 98.17% of candidates sat the exams, with absenteeism reduced to 1.83% (down from 1.98%).

-✅Improved pass rate: 70.26% of candidates obtained the School Certificate, up from 68.19% in 2024 — a 2.07 percentage point increase.

✅Historic milestone: For the first time ever, Zambia has crossed the 70% pass rate mark at Grade 12.

✅Trend of progress: Pass rates have steadily risen over the past five years — from 63.93% in 2020 to 70.26% in 2025.

✅Government interventions credited: Recruitment of teachers, provision of desks and materials, school grants, and feeding programmes have strengthened learning outcomes.
