ON A SAD NOTE!!
We regret to inform the people of Masaiti that another youth has cut her life short.
She was a first princess at our Mis Masaiti contestations.Her name is Peggy of Shinkonde Village in Shimibanga ward.
Circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be fully acetained. When the team rushed to the hospital she was unconscious we remained in touch with the family and in the early hours of yesterday she was pronounced dead.

“I USED TO THINK SCHOOL HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH WEALTH

Growing up, we were told: go to school, get good grades, get a job, and take care of your family. Raised in the village, it was inspiring to see teachers and government workers earning a salary and living a life we thought we couldn’t afford without education and employment.

So we worked tirelessly in school to get there too. Along the way we abandoned our talents and skills, believing they meant nothing compared to books. I remember wanting to be a footballer. But every time I came home late after playing soccer ⚽, my parents would beat me. “Focus on education. Football won’t take you anywhere.” Sometimes I was called “dull” or “illiterate” just because I didn’t score the highest like my friends.

We were convinced that school was the only path to wealth. So we killed our talents, careers, and dreams, thinking we’d return to them after school. It hurt being out of school for any reason while your friends were still in class. Dropouts were treated like people with no vision. We looked down on young people who chose a different path - business - calling them failures just because they weren’t “educated”.

Now we’re in the real world with good results, and reality has taught us something: school life is not real life. The “intelligent” ones are sometimes the ones roaming the streets with nothing, asking from the same people we underestimated. Today those “dropouts” run big companies as CEOs, some without a single certificate.

Starting a business as a young person isn’t easy. There are too many choices, too many distractions. But it’s one of the best decisions you can make. Those serious young entrepreneurs called “stingy” aren’t stingy - entrepreneurship needs discipline, persistence, and new strategies.

So hear this: Just because you’re not doing well academically doesn’t mean you’re a failure. Find what you’re good at. Keep practicing. Keep learning. Become the best at it.

Stooped by Masaiti boarding secondary school MBSS today to pick up my G12 certificate. Saw the current students and my heart was full. MASAITI doesn't just make graduates. It makes leaders. Society is in good hands”

Story for September 9th…
“MASAITI BOARDING SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS TAKE LEARNERS BY SURPRISE

Today learners who had reported yesterday after a long holiday were taken by surprise by teachers who decided to clean the school whilst they were having their first meal in school this term with others catching up.

It is believed that the second day of the term is marked for maintenance so some learners purposefully report late or stay in their hostels waiting to be chased around and told to clean the school.

Surprisingly, instead of the usual routine, teachers after being assigned to supervise the cleaning of the school decided to clean the school themselves and allow the children to rest especially that some had traveled from as far as, Solwezi, Kalumbila and Lusaka to Masaiti Boma.

Learners were idling around after their heavy breakfast with thoughts of never stepping on the campus area. It appears it was this time when word went out that teachers were cleaning the school. Learners were taken by surprise!

Out of shame, one by one learners started flocking on the campus area. The sight was nothing you have seen. Heads of Departments were with brooms, teachers alike. Female teachers were moving with wheelbarrows ferrying the leaves and liter glued to their old school time stories.

Learners were walking with sagged faces and one by one they substituted the teachers. It was overwhelming. Teaching is not forceful. Teaching is effective in a willing environment. Allow children to see sometimes, demonstrate when necessary.

I doubt Masaiti will see a day like this again!
This lesson will live for generations.
