OTLC recently hosted a neighbouring school for an academic quiz competition, and a great, fun, competitive time was had by all. It's great to see our students showing off their knowledge and learning! We hope this will become a regular event!

The teachers and students of Olive Tree Learning Centre are grateful for the regular weekly visits from overseas volunteers from African Impact. Recently they helped organize a sports day for our students, with four colour-coded teams, and took part in the games themselves. A great time was had by all!!
Meeting up with young folks from all over the world and realizing the common humanity that binds us together is an invaluable lesson both for OTLC pupils and for the African Impact volunteers.

Lots of fun activities taking place these days for our OTLC students. There is plenty of sports practice taking place, making use of some of the equipment and skills brought to OTLC by Regina Sertschnigg and the other PTI volunteers. Here are a few pictures of tennis practice on the new plot of land across the river.

OTLC hosted a visit by Rotary International clubs from Seattle and Lusaka recently. They donated two sewing machines that will be used for sewing school uniforms and for teaching pupils how to sew. A big thank you to these generous donors, and to everyone who donates to OTLC. We could not continue our mission to empower our local community of Ngwenya through education without the generosity of our donors. Thank you all!!

Yesterday OTLC hosted a Christmas party for all of our sponsored children. The food, fun and festivities put a smile on the faces of the orphans and vulnerable children of Ngwenya community. It was a perfect way to mark Christmas. Thank you to all of our many sponsors who make it possible for these youngsters to attend school at Olive Tree!!

This year's grade 7 class at OTLC, just after taking their final examinations last week. This is always a very big deal for our students, as if they perform well on these exams, they will have the opportunity to attend junior high schools. If their grades are particularly high, they may be able to attend without paying tuition, which is a tremendous boon to their families, relieving them of financial burden. We wish them all good luck on the exams!! And, of course, a huge thank you to all our teachers who taught these students over the years, and to all our child sponsors, donors, fund-raisers and volunteers, as without your help and support none of this life-changing education would be possible.
