CBU TRANSITIONS TO SEMESTER MODE OF STUDY

The Copperbelt University is transitioning from the Term System to the Semester System, effective January 2027.

This transition forms part of the University's efforts to harmonise its academic calendar and strengthen the planning and delivery of academic programmes.

FROM CLASSROOM TO IMPACT!
============================================
Congratulations to our final-year Industrial Chemistry and Biochemistry students for turning their entrepreneurial projects into meaningful impact.

As part of their entrepreneurial class, the students were challenged to develop and implement business plans. Each group successfully invested in their respective projects and declared a profit

The students used part of their proceeds to donate 24 beakers to the Department of Chemistry and K1,500 to the CBU Challenge.

A great example of innovation, enterprise and giving back. We are proud of you!

CBU, WONDERFUL GROUP PARTNER TO EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS.
=============================================
The Copperbelt University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with United Capital Fertilizer Zambia, a member of the Wonderful Group of Companies, to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and expand opportunities for CBU students.

The partnership will see the construction and equipping of a Chemical Engineering Laboratory, dedicated lecture theatre and student accommodation, while providing 15 scholarships annually and industrial internship opportunities for Chemical Engineering students.

The MoU was signed by CBU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Imasiku A. Nyambe and Mr Roy C. Mwamba, Deputy Group CEO of the Wonderful Group of Companies.

The ceremony was graced by Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Finance and Economic Development, Mr Siazongo Siakalenge, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Dr Kelvin Mambwe.

CBU, BEIJING POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE OF CHINA STRENGHTEN COOPERATION IN EDUCATION.

The Copperbelt University and Beijing Polytechnic College of China have signed a Memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in Natural Sciences, Mining, Built Environment, Business and Engineering.

Speaking at the ceremony, CBU Vice Chancellor Professor Imasiku Nyambe said the partnership will strengthen teaching, staff and student exchanges, professional development and skills training.

And Chinese ambassador to China reaffirmed China's commitment to higher education cooperation and encouraged continued engagement between the two institutions.

Representing the Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary, Director University Education Mr Brian Makufele said the partnership demonstrates the transformative power of collaboration in advancing education and national development.

The CBU-Beijing Polytechnic MoU forms part of two memoranda signed during the occasion, with the wider cooperation also involving the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Zambia's Ministry of Education

AIRTEL LAUNCHES FULL TECH SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CBU.
=============================================
Airtel Zambia has launched the Airtel Tech Fellowship, a five-year, fully funded scholarship programme sponsored by the Airtel Africa Foundation - with 25 scholarships for CBU first-year STEM students. Each beneficiary will receive fully paid tuition for five years, accommodation, a brand-new laptop, monthly data connectivity, a monthly living allowance, and a guaranteed internship placement.

Speaking during the launch, CBU Vice Chancellor Prof. Imasiku Nyambe commended Airtel for giving young Zambians an opportunity to pursue their dreams- reminding all that financial vulnerability must never be mistaken for lack of ability, ambition or potential. Drawing on the proverb that it takes a village to raise a child, he said this scholarship was that proverb in action, reflecting the spirit of Ubuntu.

And Airtel Managing Director Hussam Baday reiterated a fundamental belief of the organization in creating impact by investing in the education of citizens.

The launch was graced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, represented by the Director University Education Brian Makufele who commended Airtel for its continued contribution to education.

The Copperbelt Universities’ Michael Chilufya Sata School of medicine has hosted the inaugural Zambia Symposium on Research Rigor & Reproducibility.

Held under the theme ´From evidence to impact: Building a stronger research future for Zambia´, the symposium brought together local and international researchers, scholars and experts to deliberate on strengthening the quality, credibility and social impact of health research.

The symposium, the first of many, highlighted CBUs commitment to promoting research excellence, innovation and evidence-based solutions that contribute to national development and improved health outcomes.
