Yesterday being Day 1 of our Industrial Tour at the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we had an insightful and interactive learning experience beyond the classroom.

Stepping into the heart of Zambia’s mining industry was a powerful reminder that learning goes far beyond the classroom.

Our visit to Mopani Copper Mines gave us an in-depth look into the lifecycle of copper — from extraction deep within the earth, to crushing, processing, and ultimately preparing it for industrial use. Witnessing these processes firsthand transformed what we’ve studied into something tangible and real.

What stood out even more was understanding how business courses and programs are deeply embedded in these operations. From cost control and budgeting to operational efficiency, risk management, and strategic decision-making, it became clear that strong business insight is just as critical as technical expertise in driving the success and sustainability of mining activities.

This experience challenged us to think beyond theory — to see ourselves as future professionals contributing meaningfully to industries that shape our economy.
