With support from Lawyers Without Boarders( LWOB) , Our SGBV community sensitization continues to be a great success. This weekend we successfully conducted our outreach in mukabila village in Nkole Mfumu through sports and entertainment, the sensitization centred on addressing defilement in the area and harmful traditional practices that puts children in vulnerable situations where they are abused.

The key stakeholders- Victim Support Unit and One Stop Center outlined the reporting mechanism as well as the need to take all survivors to the hospital for medical support within 24:00.

Beyond the sessions and other activities, sports and entertainment have been powerful tools we've used not just for creating safe spaces, and building confidence but also to address challenges such as teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and other harmful behaviours that can become barriers to young people reaching their full potential through sports and entertainment. Sometimes, creating change begins with something as simple as giving a young person a safe space to play, express themselves, connect, and belong. As part of our Mental Health Month conversations, our youth-friendly space today reflected on how to navigate verbal abuse and discrimination within the home. Participants shared personal experiences and together we explored ways to protect their emotional well-being while navigating difficult relationships with guardians and family members, especially when living with them is the only option they have.

We acknowledge that mental health is also shaped by the environments we live in and sometimes, healing begins with having a safe space where our experiences are heard, understood, and supported. If you or somebody you know is struggling with mental health, please talk to someone.

If you are 18-35 years old, have been actively running your business for more than 3 months, and are ready to commit to the full 6-week training, this opportunity is for you! Young
women and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
Training is available in Kasama, Mungwi, Luwingu, Senga and Mbala District.

COMMUNITY DAY- MUNKONGE

This weekend, we had an impactful Community Day in "Mutale Munkonge Village" bringing community members together to raise awareness on the dangers of Gender Based Violence.

Through an engaging sketch, we demonstrated how misunderstandings and unresolved conflicts can cause harm to those involved.
We concluded the day with exciting ball games under the theme Kick Out GBV using sport to promote unity, teamwork, and a community free from gender-based violence.

Together, let us speak up, prevent violence, protect children, and build safer communities. We are continually grateful to Lawyers Without Borders and to all our local partners.
