📍 FROM KABWE TO LUSAKA | SEC INDUSTRY TOUR

Yesterday, the Mulungushi University Economics Association (MUECA) took learning beyond the classroom as we travelled from “the only university in Zambia, abroad” in Kabwe to Lusaka for an educational industry tour at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Zambia.

The tour gave us an opportunity to gain practical insights into the world of capital markets, including how the SEC protects investors, how trading takes place in financial markets, and the role of the Commission in the development, regulation, and promotion of Zambia’s capital markets.

From engaging discussions and learning sessions to the exciting Capital Markets Quiz, the day was filled with knowledge, interaction, and healthy competition.

We were proud to be represented by our colleagues from MUECA in the quiz. They put up a strong performance, securing second place, while Chalimbana University emerged victorious and took home the first prize. Congratulations to them! 👏🏽

Beyond the competition, the tour was about connecting, learning, sharing experiences, and creating memories with fellow Economics students from different institutions.

As the day came to an end, we took our photos, shared our final moments together, and eventually went our separate ways — carrying with us new knowledge, new connections, and memories that will last.

From theory to practice. From the classroom to the capital markets.

📸 MUECA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING | A DAY OF IDEAS, UNITY & PURPOSE 🎓📊

Yesterday, the Mulungushi University Economics Association (MUECA) held its Annual General Meeting, bringing together members of the association for a productive and engaging session filled with ideas, reflections, discussions, and a shared vision for the future.

The AGM provided an opportunity to officially introduce the new MUECA Executive Committee to our members and to begin the journey of working together to take the association to greater heights. 🚀

But MUECA is more than just an executive committee.

MUECA is its members. 🤝

The strength, growth, and success of this association depend on the participation, ideas, commitment, and support of every member. During the meeting, members openly shared their thoughts, suggestions, and new ideas on how we can improve the way MUECA operates, create more opportunities, and build an association that truly represents and benefits Economics students.

We also reflected on the programmes and opportunities that make MUECA unique — from industrial tours and financial literacy talks to workshops, mentorship, networking opportunities, and other activities designed to connect students with the world beyond the classroom. 🌍📈

As Economics students, we learn theories and concepts in class. But through MUECA, we seek to go a step further by creating opportunities to experience, understand, and apply what we learn in the real world.

That is why our motto remains:

The AGM was not simply a meeting. It was a reminder that when students come together, share ideas, take responsibility, and work towards a common vision, great things can be built.

The discussions have ended, but the work has only just begun. 💪🏽
