🚧 Groundbreaking for Skills Development in Zambia

On Thursday, 23rd April 2026, Fountain Gate Crafts & Trades School (FGCATS), in partnership with Liebherr Zambia and supported by the German Government, officially held the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Skills Development Project in Chongwe. 🇿🇲

Valued at approximately €4 million, this initiative is a major step toward strengthening technical training and preparing young people for careers in Zambia’s growing mining and construction sectors.

🎓 The project introduces a modern Dual Vocational Education and Training (Dual VET) model—combining classroom learning with hands-on industry experience, with the majority of training taking place in real work environments.

🔧 Training will focus on high-demand fields such as:
• Advanced Heavy-Duty Mechanics
• Component Remanufacturing
• High-Voltage & Industrial Instrumentation

In addition to long-term apprenticeship programmes, the project will also deliver short-term modular courses, expanding access to practical skills training for more young people.

💡 This initiative directly addresses key national challenges, including youth unemployment and the shortage of skilled professionals in technical fields. It also promotes inclusivity by creating more opportunities for women in engineering and technical careers.

We are proud to be part of this transformative partnership—working together to build a skilled, industry-ready workforce and contribute to Zambia’s economic growth.

🤝 Strengthening Partnerships for Skills Development!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming a team from the Manyinga Town Council MTC to Fountain Gate Crafts and Trades School!

Our Head of School, Eng. Gelson Maluma, hosted Dr. Gift Sakanyi, Shala Mushala, Cosmas Kasongo, and Mweene Layford to discuss the progress of our CDF Skills Development Bursary students and map out future collaborations.

The team toured our facilities and held an independent feedback session directly with the students (intakes from May 2025 and January 2026). We were delighted by the official remarks left by the Council:

"We visited the institute to check on our students that are sponsored under CDF. We were impressed... Currently, the school is having 30 of our students who are trained in different courses. This was part of our monitoring of our students."

Thank you to the Manyinga Town Council for your dedication to youth empowerment and for trusting us with their training. Together, we are building a skilled future! 🏗️🔧
