Safira met Yumi Super Cereal at home, in the bag her mum bought for her young brother.

She is at university in Lusaka now, and the classes run all day. So she made it her own morning tradition.

"I eat it every morning before my day-long classes. It is filling and it sustains me through the day."

Then her friends started asking for it, and her close family too. So she began keeping a few packs aside for them.

Wanzya refused everything.

The first porridge, she spat out the moment it touched her mouth. The second one went the same way, and on some days it did not stay down at all. So her mum went home and cooked mealie meal porridge herself. With butter. Refused. With peanut butter. Refused.

"I almost added jam. All I wanted was her not to starve."

When Wanzya was seven months old, her mum decided to try one last time. She had gone to the shop for a different brand altogether, but the salesman put Yumi Super Cereal in her hands instead. If she doesn't eat this one, he told her, then I don't know what will. In fact, you will come back for another pack.

"With so much doubt I bought it."

Wanzya is one year old now, and her mum still buys her porridge at that same shop.

A Yumi Champion can be anyone who serves their community. A mother selling from home, a nurse, a tuck shop, a small grocery, a stall at the market. You order from us, we send it to your town, and from two bales the transport is on us.

Ethan is eleven months old and stays in Chipata Compound in Lusaka. Every day has two porridge moments in it: Yumi Super Cereal in the morning, and again in the afternoon.

We know because his mum Evelyn wrote to us: "I have a baby who can be good for advertising. And he loves your porridge a lot." She has been very consistent with his porridge, and it shows: a healthy boy, full of energy. One look at those cheeks and we had nothing to add.

To every family across Zambia: we wish our country a calm and peaceful election time.

Thursday 13 August is voting day and a public holiday. The Batoka plant in Choma and our Kaunda Square Stage 2 shop in Lusaka are closed from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 August. We are back on Monday 17 August from 08:00.

If the Yumi Super Cereal shelf needs topping up first, today is the day. The Kaunda Square shop is open today until 16:00.

A few days ago, a mum wrote this to us:

"I've been using this porridge for more than four years now. Started on my first boy, now the baby brother joined. It's the best."

We read messages like hers every day. And we know the other side of them too: Yumi Super Cereal is not yet in every shop, and many of you have never even tasted it.

So today, Chawama, nobody travels. We come to you.
