MKUYAMBA'S VALEDICTION TO ST. MARK'S SEC SCH

Having served as Head Teacher for the mighty Sante Mako boys for ten years, today the 20 Th of December, 2024. Mr. Mkuyamba took up the humble challenge to pass the button to the next Head Teacher for St. Mark's Secondary School. The button has been passed on to Mrs. Agness Ngoma Simona.

In attendance of the peaceful hand over was the PEO s representative Mr. Hakoloa - SEO- ODL and other two accompanying officers; Human resource personnel and an Accountant. The church too had full representation: The Education Secretary - Fr. Jere, The Arch Deacon - Ven.Rev.Fr. Busiku, the Parish priest - Fr. Chrissy Mumba.

Mr. Mkuyamba in his final remarks and in his usual smile wished the incoming Headteacher the best and greatness. He emphasized that he was fully available for consultancy as the school had become part of him and he had become part of the school, therefore its success in any area would make him a happy person too.

Later the Provincial Education Office representative, Mr. Hakoola informed all parties that there is time for everything. Time to meet and time to part ways. He encouraged the church to continue working with the government to improve education standards in the province. He echoed the need for the Church to always take care of teachers under secondment. He indicated that such a gesture would improve productivity. The good performance of schools in the province is great because of the positive and massive contribution of various mission schools around. It was at this point that he congratulated the new Head Teacher Mrs. Agnes Ngoma Simona. He encouraged her to work hard and work well in her new position. He further advised her not to abandon all projects that may have been started by the out going Headteacher as other projects may be of great help to the school and especially the learners.

Thereafter, the entire team went for a photoshoot and a luncheon.

Happy teachers day

I wish all teachers A VERY HAPPY WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY.

There have been many unsung heroes when Fiji detected its first COVID community transmission that led to 24 hour curfews and lock downs including closure of schools. We have acknowledged and applauded our front liners. But there is one group who were also our COVID warriors and that is our teachers and education staff. Our teachers did everything they could to prevent learning loss.

I am grateful that many of you have readily embraced changes by working harder than ever to do your job in a totally new ‘online’ setting that required you to turn to new methods of teaching, adapt to and overcome its challenges. In your endeavour to serve, you have been providing a sense of stability and purpose that are very much needed to keep teaching and learning alive. You have been living up to this year’s theme of being at the heart of the recovery.

Your contribution towards education recovery will have a huge impact on the future of the country’s economy. There is no doubt of the vital role you have played and will continue to play despite the compounding impacts of the pandemic. You have done the country proud on many occasions before and I am sure you will strive to do so in the future.

Let us work together to do just that. I commend all our teachers everywhere on their commitment and hard work to shape the lives of our children.
